Mission: Ghost of a Chance
[Sickbay]
The EMH gave Zhara and Jason an injection with a hypospray to counteract the gas released on the bridge.
After a few minutes, he went to the first bio bed. "Are you awake yet, Commander Smoak?" the EMH asked.
Seconds after the hypospray was placed on his neck, Smoak immediately grabbed the EMH's hand, twisting it as his eyes shot opened. He sat up and turned her around, almost in a swift motion, and brought him close so his arm was across the holograms neck. As if being snapped out of a trance, going from angry one moment and shocked the next, Jason quickly let the EMH go and shoved it away. He looked around, puzzled, before looking back to the EMH. "I'm sorry... I..." He stopped in mid sentence before looking around again. "What the hell?" He whispered softly.
"You were transported to sickbay," the EMH said. "And if you cannot control yourself, you will stay here."
"We're boarded by Romulans and I unexpectedly wake up here." Jason replied quickly. "How did you expect me to react?"
Wendi, who was now on a bio bed wasn't reacting well to anything. Suddenly without warning her vitals began to come back. She took a deep breath as if she was trying to get as much oxygen into her lungs as possible. Her skin began to change complexion slightly as if she was beginning to change or glow from inside her very soul.
"CAPTAIN!" a small voice seemed to shout from the darkness, but it was more like a whisper. A very faint image of Wendi, only visible by the Captain himself seemed to fade very slightly in front of him. "She's going to be alright..." the ghostly image said, its voice beginning to become quieter and quieter. "Thank you..."
With that. Wendi on the bio bed began to stir, and eventually making some sort of noises as if in pain.
Miko had taken her jacket off and pushed the sleeves on her uniform undershirt up sometime during the operation work she had done on the chief engineer. Nothing had seemed to be working, much to the medical officer's frustration and simmering anger that boiled behind her calm demeanor. She had stepped back and was rubbing her head in frustration when Maberu's vitals started to rise. Quickly stepping back over to the surgical bio-bed, she glanced at the computer readouts before turning her eyes towards the engineering officer and activating the scanners in her cybernetic eyes. "Chief, can you hear me? How do you feel?" she asked.
John frowned towards his chief engineer and headed over closer. At the door, Sevena and a Starfleet security officer they had met up with kept watch, giving them a few minutes to regroup. "Chief?" he said.
"Kyaputen. Arigatōgozaimashita. Watashi wa ima daijōbudesu!" Wendi replied still staring at the ceiling. She had switched back to her native tongue. "Koko wa doko?" she asked looking over towards Miko. It was strange, she seemed to be in some sort of trance state.
"Anata wa anzendesu. Anata wa byōki ni natte imasu," Miko said as she squeezed the engineer's shoulder in a comforting manner. Switching to Federation Standard, she continued. "I need you to try not to move around much for a while. I did what I could but your injuries were very serious. Do you feel any severe pain anywhere?"
"I don't know" Wendi replied softly.
John blinked as he looked from his chief engineer to the medical officer and back again. He looked back and forth a couple of times before he finally shook his head and sighed. "For those of us whose universal translators won't translate whatever the devil you two are speaking, can I get a translation please?" he asked.
Wendi turned her head and looked at the captain. Her eyes seemed to shine in the low light. "I will be fine. I thankyou Captain. For your support. For carrying me here and for ensuring I was safe" she explained simply her voice soft and calm. "I watched you do all that for me. Its hard to explain at the moment..."
"It's alright, Chief," John said as he set his hand on Wendi's shoulder lightly. "You're a part of my crew, and I'd do the same for anyone on this ship. For now, I need you to rest, heal, and get ready because after today, engineering is going to be busy for a few days."
"Anything engineering does over the next several days, possibly even weeks, will be done without my patient," Miko said as she stepped forward and checked the chief engineer's vitals. She paused for a brief moment to gently grab the captain's hand and remove it from Maberu's shoulder. "She needs rest, and you need to get those pesky Romulans off the ship and get us to a star-base so I can replenish our medical supplies. They seem to have raided the medical warehouse."
"Mira to Theisman."
John's head snapped up at the sound of his XO's voice. He had wondered what she had been off doing, and he had a vague idea at this point. Tapping his commbadge, he decided that it was better to not ask right now. "Theisman here, go ahead number one."
"I've got the bridge, but we still have Romulans on the ship. Is Commander Smoak awake?"
"Smoak is still under the gentle care of Lieutenant Sato," John said as he glanced over towards Smoak and Sato. He was quiet for a moment before he spoke again."Two questions Commander. First, where is that Romulan woman that tried to steal my ship? Second, Do you have control over the transporters?"
"She's in the brig," Jayde said. "And I do at the moment, but I don't have control of engineering or operations."
"I need you to beam me to the bridge. Once I'm there, I can unlock the systems and we can start figuring out what to do next," John said. "I'm leaving Sevena here with Lieutenant Sato in sickbay until Commander Smoak wakes up."
"No need." Jason shouted slightly, pushing Sato away before getting out of the biobed and walking to the Captain. "I'm fine." He said halfheartedly before continuing. He wasn't about to show any sign of weakness. He's had worse, a lot worse, so he could easily shake this off. Besides, he was focused on three things. His concern for Jayde. His job of defending the ship and its crew, and finding that Romulan Pirate to prove to her he wasn't backing down. "Nothing a good walk and a drink wont fix on its own once this is done. What do you need?"
"Yes. Keep Sevena away from the Romulans," Mira said. "They can't find her or they'll kill her. Give me a minute and I'll transport you to the bridge."
A minute later, Theisman and Smoak materialized on the bridge.
Appearing on the bridge, John spun about for a moment before he turned towards his first officer. "Good work, Commander. What's our sitrep?" he asked as he walked over towards her.
Smoak walked over to the nearest tactical station, avoiding any comment that was about to slip, before bringing up internal sensors and beginning a sweep of the ship for non-members of the crew.
"Engineering is down, as you know," Jayde said. "Everyone who was in security was taken to the brig. The Romulans focused on key departments."
"We have several Romulan's scattered throughout the ship. As the XO said, more of them in key department locations and outside other holding areas." He shifted his gaze to a console next to him which was running a different scan. "Where are you?" Jason whispered softly before looking back up toward Jayde and Theisman. "If we have an empty cargo bay I can perform a mass transport and get every Romulan signature that's not listed as a friendly in there. I'll have to access the transporter system and use the internal sensors as a relay to target them all. Won't take much time."
Beam them to the cargo bay on deck twelve, except for their commander," John said as he hefted his phaser rifle and adjusted the settings. "Beam her directly to the bridge."
Smoak nodded his head at the commend and smiled once he heard the last little detail. He tapped on the console and made the proper adjustments, while the second console was still going through its program. Once the second console beeped that it was finished, Jason quickly finished lock on and began transporting the Romulan's to the Cargo Bay, while simultaneously locking the bay. He added force fields around every exit point, including the small ones, and raised the shields to prevent them from being transported out.
The last step was one he enjoyed the most. He timed the transport of their Commander with precision. Taking the time to walk over to the nearest weapon's locker and removed a Phaser Rifle. He checked its settings and placed it over his shoulder, before closing the locker door and walking around. He took a few steps forward before bringing down the rile and aiming it forward seconds before the timer went off. The Romulan Commander was soon transported a few feet in front of Smoak's phaser rifle barrel, his aim aligned perfect with her face, as he remained at the ready in an almost cold fashion.
"I curious if you see reason, Commander in the error in fighting against a superior enemy." Jason replied as he recalled the almost same line she used when she made her first appearance on board. "Then again... I'm kinda hoping you try to fight." He allowed a bit of a smirk to escape his lips as he concluded. "Please resist."
Before the Romulan woman could open her mouth to speak, John raised his own phaser rifle and fired, stunning Ael'Isha and dropping her to the deck. The stun setting didn't last long for a Romulan, and she was able to recover quickly enough, shaking her head as she stirred and started back to her feet. John instantly shifted his attention to Smoak, never taking his rifle away from the Romulan. "Stand down, Commander. That's an order," he said, his voice as cold as anyone had ever heard before and with a tone that simply said that he wasn't in the mood for anyone to try his patience.
Smoak turned his head slightly, looking to the Captain from the corner of his eye. He was a former cop and was pretty sure the Captain just broke a few Starfleet rules when it came to confronting an enemy. Primarily, firing on an unarmed enemy unless fired upon. His gaze shifted to Mira before lowering his rifle and stepping back as ordered.
Jayde shook her head. She, too, was surprised at the captains' actions. She'd never seen him react out of anger like that.
Turning to the Romulan commander, John narrowed his eyes. "You will order your ship to stand down, you will order your people off of my ship, and you will slide back into the shadows you slithered out of and leave my ship and my crew the hell alone. I'm giving you one chance for this to be resolved without further bloodshed, but mark my words. If you choose to not stand down, I will give the order and every one of your people will be placed in the brig and turned over to the Romulan government for trial and sentencing. I'm sure we both know that that will lead to a death sentence under current Romulan law, and I for one won't ask for a lesser sentence. Your choice, Miss T'Vek."
"Are you joking?" Smoak said, raising his voice a bit. He looked to Mira before looking over to the Captain. "Why the hell aren't we handing them over?"
"Because if we turn her in, we would be responsible for her death," Jayde said quietly.
"You too?!?" Jason said, caught off guard with Jayde's sudden compliance. For someone firm in her belief's, and with a Security background, he thought she would find the logic in bringing someone like the Commander in for trail and sentence. It wasn't their place to judge her, but also as officers, letting her go would be a far greater crime. Any action she takes, from here on, would be something they could have prevented. No matter how great or small.
Ael'Isha stared between the three Starfleet officers before she finally turned towards the captain and nodded slowly. "What terms do you offer?" she finally asked.
"We will release you and your surviving people, you will take your ship and leave this area. In return, we won't turn you over to the Romulan Galae," John said simply.
Smoak walked up to the Captain, standing at his side as he spoke softly and as calmly as he could possibly be in this situation. "You can't do this. It's against the law. She is a criminal, and as Starfleet Officers, we can't just let her walk away to do something else. Kill more people. Threaten innocents. We have a duty to keep the peace, not allow people like her to walk away to do more horrible things, because the next group she kills will be on our heads. Your head." He looked over to Ael'Isha before looking back to Theisman. "Are you prepared for that to happen? To answer for that when the time comes?"
"Our options are extremely limited, Commander," John said. "One, we can't turn her over to the Romulan government because she'll be immediately executed, and however horrible her crimes are, I'm not going to be party to a simple murder which is exactly what will happen. Two, I'm not about to break off from our mission and spend the next two and a half months it'll take to return to the Federation and turn her over to the authorities there, and three I'm not about to have a brig full of Romulan criminals whose sole goal every single day is to mastermind an escape and possible murder us. That leaves the option of letting her go, which brings me to my next point." He turned his attention back to the Romulan and continued. "I'm letting you go. But know this, the only reason why is because if I turn you over to the Romulans, they'll execute you on the spot and that'll be simple murder. I won't lower myself to your level by committing or being a party to what I very well know will be murder. It goes against one of the basic standings of the Federation. We can't return to the Federation to stand trial, as that will end our mission of exploration here, and I'm damned well not going to spend the next seven years with you taking up space in my brig. So, that leaves one option, and that's to let you go. But, there are conditions that you will meet before I will release you from my custody."
"And those are?" Ael'Isha asked, her eyes darting to the other two officers.
"You will destroy the weapons on your ship, strip the cloaking device and all related systems and surrender them to us. Then, you will return to your ship and leave this sector. I don't want to see you or your people ever again, and if I do, I will not hesitate to report your location to the Romulan Galae. I would take your word, but in your case, I believe I need something a little more binding," John said.
"It is not our call to dictate how they should carry out their laws and punishments." Smoak replied, raising his voice. "If they execute her, its because of her crimes, because she broke their laws. If you want to keep her from being executed then bring her up on charges for her crimes against us, the Federation, where her punishment will be less severe and more lenient." He pointed to Ael'Isha as he continued speaking to Theisman. "We are here by invitation from her government and we are not a liberty to allow criminals to walk freely to commit more crimes. It can be considered an act of war and against whatever treaty we have with the Romulans which allow us to be here. You have more options, you just need to stop thinking with your emotions and think like a Starfleet Officer. A Captain. Remember the pips you have on your neck and the insignia you have on your chest and what they stand for. You do this you are no better than her." He looked to Ael'Isha, than to Mira, before finally looking back to the Captain. "We are not here to decide how these people run their laws and decide the punishments of those who break those laws. If this were one of ours, caught by their people, we would expect them to hand them over to us for the same reasons. We also have no way of knowing that she will even stick to her word. She is a criminal for a reason. Think about this clearly, Captain."
"I am thinking clearly Commander," John said in a tone covered in ice. "If the Romulans execute her, it'll be because they caught her, not because I did their job for them. I've already stated my reasons, and I stand by them. Under the charges that would be brought up by the Federation, she would be imprisoned and released. I'm offering her the chance to walk away. We don't know for what reasons she was originally branded a criminal by the Romulan government, knowing the Romulans as I do, but I won't condemn her for the actions she's been forced to take because of it. The Romulans will execute her for simply speaking out against their government, and for all we know that's all she did. I'm not here to play constable to Romulan law. So, she and I will have an agreement or she'll spend the rest of her life on that asteroid we found a few days ago."
"I would be willing to uphold a Blood Oath, if you would trust in that," Ael'Isha said.
"She came on board a Federation ship and attempted to take it over. This is Federation property. Under our law, considered Federation soil. Meaning she is violating our laws and falls under our jurisdiction." Jason replied, holding back his frustrations as best he could. "If hold her long enough, and meet another ship to take her to Federation space and bring her in, she can be held under our laws and a death sentence will never hit the table for her. She won't die, just receive a stint in a Federation penal colony." He stopped and took a breath. This was going against everything he believed and fought for when he was a cop. In his heart, he still was, and this was hitting him in all the wrong ways. "I get it, Captain. You don't want her dying for standing up for what she believes in. I don't think she deserves to die, but we are taught and trained to not only respect our own laws but the laws and cultures of other species. We can't pick and choose what to follow and what not to. That's not how it works. You know this. If we want the Romulan's to respect our laws when in our territory, we have to respect there's or else this treaty is not worth the PADD it's recorded on. If you do this you are welcoming other people and species to do the same thing, and as defense, they will state this moment as precedent. Your act, right here and right now, it will be used to allow others to get away with criminals in Federation territory. Harden Criminals. Monsters. Child Murders. Others who have committed unspeakable acts. And do you know what they will say? A Federation Captain once released and Romulan Criminal because he didn't want to have her death on his conscience, so why should we let someone die who has done nothing to us. Nothing to our government. To our people. They never killed any of us. They never broke our laws. They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Who are we to judge? Your own people don't believe in handing over our criminals, why should we hand over yours?"
"We are here to explore, but we are also here with permission from the Romulan Government, which means we have to respect their laws while we are here. Just as we would expect them to do when they come to the Alpha Quadrant. By letting her go, you will be breaking that law, and that trust. You will be and that will reflect badly on the uniform you wear and the Government, our government, that you represent." Jason looked to Ael'Isha before looking back to Theisman. "I was a cop for years before I stepped on board this ship, so believe me, I have been where you are. I have caught people who, I knew, would be condemned to death by their governments. I didn't like it anymore than you do right now, and I will be completely honest with you. Some of those decisions, still haunt me, but I still had to make them regardless of how I felt, because of the uniform I wore and the badge I carried. I had to honor and respect those laws more than my own because, I knew, if the shoe were on the other foot I would want them to do the same if it were one of ours. I did not want to be the one who gave them reason to turn away and release someone who I knew would hurt someone else again, just given time. Or worse, if it were someone who did something small one our side, but over here, was charged with a death sentence for something petty and small." He placed his hand on the mans shoulder and said calmly. "If you want to save her from a death sentence, charging her with one of our crimes, is your best bet. It will safe her life the best way that I know of, but letting her go will only invite more problems on us while we are here. Causing more problems, unforeseeable problems down the line, while we continue our mission here. You're right, we are not here to play judge and jury, but we are not show the Romulans how much we don't care about their laws because it's only going to look poorly on us, and more so, on the Federation. Sir? Your decision here will reflect our future and either help us or damn us. Letting her go may butterfly effect on us and cause deaths we can't see now because you allowed your feelings to disrespect the rules of the territory you are given permission to explore. We are here with their permission, remember. They could just as quickly pull away that courtesy and put a stop to our mission here."
Jayde had been mostly silent until now, but she could not continue to keep silent. "There is no right or wrong answer here," Jayde said quietly to Smoak and Theisman. "Regulation Three states that the Federation does not support the death penalty. By turning her over, we will be putting her to death and Regulation 9279 states that Officers are prohibited from willfully endangering a prisoner's life, and she is definitely our prisoner. So if we turn her over to the Romulans we will be responsible for her death as surely as if we executed her ourselves. We do not know what her crime is. Therefore we cannot be her judge, jury and executioner. At the same time, if we take her back to Federation space and turn her over, we will not only forfeit any chance we have or may ever have of exploring Romulan territory. We may even start a war, which is not something Starfleet will condone." She gave Jason a sympathetic smile because she did understand his points.
She turned to the Captain. "I'm also not comfortable with letting her go because we don't know if we can trust her. I think your suggestion of putting her and her crew on the asteroid is our best option."
Finally, the First Officer turned to the Romulan. "For the record, we will now be able to find you, even if you're cloaked. And if you attack us again, I will not hesitate to give your location to the Romulan Star Empire."
"I can't believe what I am hearing..." Jason replied softly, looking between the both of them, before walking away. "You're Starfleet Officers. Starfleet has rules against making bargains with outlaws." He stopped at his tactical console and placed the Phaser Rifle down on it. "I won't be a part of this. This goes against everything I have ever did in my entire career as a Security Officer, as a Cop, and as a Starfleet Officer. The both of you are now better than her in all this. And you?" He turned to Jayde. "I don't know why I am not surprised. You got on me for playing a Maquee? Here you are... a Maquee playing a Starfleet Officer. You're no better."
"Turning her over to the Romulans will also break Starfleet regulations," she said, stung by his words. "There is no right answer here, Jason. I'm proposing what I believe is our best option."
"How many crew do you have left on your ship?" John asked. When the Romulan woman hesitated, he silently raised the setting on his phaser rifle. "how many?" he repeated in a tone that implied it was best to not make him ask again.
"I have another one hundred ninety three on board," she answered.
"Here's what we're going to do then," John said as he gave Jayde a nod before turning his full attention to Ael'Isha. "Your entire crew will transport to the Hyperion, after which we will destroy your ship. We will then transport your crew to an asteroid base we discovered recently and leave you there with enough rood and water until you can figure out how to survive there on your own. Or something eats you. If I see you again, it'll be extremely unpleasant for you. Resist or protest, I'll throw you in an escape pod and let you drift through the asteroid field on your own."
"We will not resist. But know this, Captain. If I ever see you, your ship, or your crew again, I'm simply going to fight to kill you first. No hard feelings," Ael'Isha said.
"Get her to give the order to her crew and then get her off of my bridge," John snapped. "And contact the Helios. I think they need to hear this from us ASAP."
Jason stood there by the tactical console, arms crossed over his chest, listening to all this. This plan seemed more and more chaotic the more time had passed. The Captain didn't want the Romulan to die, however was willing to commit murder and do it himself. Also, stranding the crew of the Romulan Warbird on an asteroid where we know comes with its own set of dangers that they agreed needed to be preserved and held its own secrets was asking for trouble. There is not telling what they would find there that they could no doubt use for themselves must later. Lastly, destroying a ship of that size would, no doubt, leave debris and draw attention to this section and possibly lead to their discovery, as well as, the asteroids discovery. This would put that technology back in their hands and it would no longer remain hidden. All of these were theories, but possibilities. Jason soon shook his head rolled his eyes. What the hell kind of ship did he get put on? He should have stayed on his shuttle and kept going.
"I do not believe we should simply blow up their ship," Jayde said, glancing from Smoak to the captain. "We cannot leave evidence of it for others to find. We can send it into the gravitational field of the brown dwarf. Or if not that, crash it into an asteroid so it looks like an accident." If she remembered correctly, all the technology used to terraform the asteroid was gone, so there was nothing but the environment itself for the Romulans to use.
"I'd rather not risk anything from their ship being found and possibly used later on," John said. Sending a ship into an asteroid field was one way to handle the task. After all, the ship would be very effectively destroyed, but there would be pieces that would survive. Sending it into the gravity pull of a star would solve that problem as well. Pulling Jayde to the side and trusting Smoak to keep a very close eye on Ael'Isha, John lowered his voice so that no one else would overhear. "Commander, how difficult would it be for someone, say a command officer supervising the skeleton crew it's going to take to pilot that warbird into a sun, to just so happen to stumble on a piece of Romulan technology or two and bring it back to the Hyperion? Unofficially and off the books, of course. Naturally, we'll want science to keep it locked up safe and sound, but I believe we have some storage bays dedicated for the science department's use on deck 9 that might have some, um, assorted alien tech that we've found?"
Jayde wasn't sure what regulations would say about that, but with the Romulans being rogue, and attacking unprovoked, she didn't care to consider the legality at this time. "I believe our best option is to have the Helios follow the away team and beam them aboard at the critical moment. If they happen to acquire some scientific souvenirs left lying about, I do not believe the commander of the away team will notice."
"Make it so, Commander. I'll leave the details up to you on how it gets done. And, in case I forget later on, you did a very good job on taking back the bridge. We'll have to discuss how to give out recognition to all who deserve it later. For now, we have some Romulans to dispose of," John said with a nod before he turned back to Ael'Isha and Smoak.
Jayde nodded. She hoped Jason would also get recognition for his part in taking back the ship. He'd locked out the bridge controls which made it easier for her to take back control.
Ael'Isha glared hatefully towards the Starfleet officers, but she issued the commands she was requested to make. Her entire crew, though some naturally cautiously questioned the command, soon surrendered. The warbird crew signaled their understanding to surrender as well and began powering down their ship's tactical systems. When all was done, she stepped back and glared hatefully towards the deck, refusing to make eye contact with the Hyperion officers.
Once Ael'Isha had issued her orders and her crew were starting to surrender, John nodded and turned towards Smoak. "Commander, I want you to oversee the transfer of the prisoners from the ship to the asteroid. See to it that they have plenty of supplies to survive until they can make it on their own," he said.
Jason looked to Jayde before gripping the handle of his rifle tightly. He looked to John before walking over to Ael'Isha, keeping his weapon trained on her, before replying. "I'll escort her to the cargo bay with her crew, but you'll have to find someone else to do the rest. I won't be a part in this and I won't pretend to be." He motioned toward the turbolift. "Let's go." He said to Ael'Isha.
"Stop," John said as he turned towards Smoak. He stared at the commander for a long moment before he sighed. There was no easy way to move on from the situation that they had ended up in, there was no right or wrong answer or course of action. But, perhaps he could make at least one thing easier for Smoak, and hopefully the commander would realize that his CO was trying to help. "Commander Smoak, you're relieved of duty for the remainder of the day. Report to the XO at 0730 hours tomorrow morning," he said. Turning towards Jayde, he continued. "Commander Jayde, please assume Commander Smoak's duties for the remainder of the day. Inform Commander Velah that the Helios is to return to the Hyperion and she is to oversee the transfer of the Romulan prisoners and their supplies to the asteroid using any and all support craft she needs to carry out the task."
Smoak placed his rifle on the console beside him and stared at the CO, narrowing his eyes slightly. "Then I'll be in the brig." He turned around, but stopped half way, staring blankly off to the side. Slowly, he turned to face the Captain again and reached to his neck. He removed the pips he was given at the start of this whole situation and placed them by the rifle. "You'll be needing these. They were just a joke anyway." Before turning completely towards the turbolift and making his exit.
[Helios]
Velah came to the Copilot's seat, looking over the controls.
"The Captain wants us to stay under wraps so that we do not put ourselves in danger." Velah said thinking aloud. "Is there some way we can distract the enemy?" Velah surmised. "Is there a way to make a sensor ghost to set the Romulan ship's proximity sensors to go off and make their heads look for another ship in the area."
"A sensor ghost would be too complicated," Liang said. "But triggering a proximity alert is a simple matter."
"Please make it so; divert their attention partly away from us if you can?" Velah ordered.
"Yes, ma'am," Liang said, turning to her console. She checked Jayde's worm to make sure it was still operational, then gave it a command to activate the proximity alert on the Romulan ship.
"Thank you." Velah replied. "Keep all our electronic eyes peels in case we need to make a rabbit dash for better cover." She instructed. "I want us to remain motionless as much as possible and hope we are not in their sights yet?"
"Yes, ma'am," Liang said.
Several minutes later, a message came from the Hyperion.
"Open a channel." She hoped she was not taking the bait from the enemy to locate the shuttle? " She would have to be careful i her time on the channel so not to allow a lock should the need arise. "Helios Here." It was a simple greeting and she was poised to drop the connection and run if it became required.
"This is Lt. Commander Mira. We have regained control of the ship and will be transporting the Romulan crew to the asteroid."
=^= This is Lieutenant Commander Velah, we will be returning to the Hyperion.=^= She transmit and turned to her team. "Make ready to return home." She directed and nod to the Helm. "Take us home , Full impulse."
