Mission: Ghost of a Chance

[Helios]

Élan nodded, then froze and glanced towards Commander Velah. Technically, now that the situation had changed and they were no longer conducting a science mission, the Orion medical officer was the senior officer and thus the one who command authority had passed to. "Ma'am, the science mission has pretty much ended, so that means that you're technically in command at this point," the Trill said.

Velah sat a bit straighter in her chair; she had not come along to command this mission. And now her first 'Command' is trying to save her home, her daughter.

"I think we need to deliver that Worm into the Romulan Vessel." Velah said calmly. "We have the personnel to insert it and what we need is a plan to use it." Velha pondered. "Would it be possible to take helm long enough to have the Romulan ship use a Picard maneuver into the asteroids?" she asked. They would hit something no matter what just maybe be able to make it a controlled crash rather than a total destruction. Yeah I like that plan, Make it so." She thought for a second. "And if that can't work tell the computer to go into diagnostic mode if that is easier?"

Liang's expression remained passive, but she raised an eyebrow at the suggestion. "I will endeavor to do so. This particular Romulan vessel is unfamiliar to me."

It took twenty minutes to insert the worm and another ten to get it working. "The Romulan ship's weapons are now running a full diagnostic," Liang said. "If anyone on the ship tries to stop it, they will be informed that there is a problem that needs to be identified and repaired."

"Is there any way that we can disrupt the sensors on that ship as well?" Élan asked with a frown as she tapped her fingernails on the console.

"Yes, if they have any sort of astrometrics or science department," Liang said. "I will see what I can do."

"They should at least have an astrometrics bay or stellar cartography. I can't think of Romulans not having a science lab somewhere on a ship like that," Élan said. "But if we can disrupt their sensors long enough, we should be able to beam a team onboard. And I know the perfect place for us to beam onto the ship where they'll never notice, or find us."

[USS Hyperion - Shuttlebay]

John didn't like the situation, but he didn't have much of a choice. The secondary armories had been locked out and removed from the main computer, leaving any stray crew who didn't get rounded up a chance to arm themselves and hopefully resist the Romulan pirates. The away team had also been deleted from the computer, giving Val and her team a fighting chance as well, although John was hoping that the away team would go seek help. Standing silently in the shuttlebay with Smoak beside him, he watched as a pair of Romulan shuttles docked and the hatches opened Romulan pirates fanned out, weapons up and aimed at the Starfleet crew, but John's attention was solely on the woman who was their leader.

Ael'isha T'vek was dressed in a tight fitting black leather vest with dark pants and a long black cape clasped with a Romulan symbol. A traditional sword hung from her hip along with a disruptor and three knives. Smiling, she stopped in front of the Starfleet captain and another officer. "I'm so delighted that you saw reason, Captain. So few see the error in fighting against a superior enemy. Naturally, I demand a complete copy of your ships computer records."

John handed the woman a PADD. "This is a copy of our computer files. At least, the ones that aren't classified," he said. "Those, I'm not authorized to decrypt."

"Of course," Ael'isha said as she took the PADD and turned to the officer beside the captain. "And you are?" she asked.

Jason narrowed his eyes slightly and looked over to the Captain before looking back to Ael'isha. "Commander Jason Smoak. First Officer." He said with slight hostility before crossing his arms over his chest.

Ael'isha smiled at the open defiance and anger that the commander displayed. Turning towards her soldiers, she nodded. "Place the captain in the brig and isolate him from the others. Find the chief engineer and do the same for them as well. As for the commander here, we'll take him to the bridge with us," she said.

Jason looked at the Captain before looking over to Ael'isha. "When, not if, but when the opportunity presents itself to turn this back into our favor. I am going to take it."

Ael'isha smiled thinly. "Well, I wouldn't expect any less, and in fact I would be very suspicious of my prisoners if at least one of them didn't try to fight back. So, please do so. For every failed attempt, I will order the execution of twelve people on this ship," she said as she waved the commander towards the doors. "The bridge, if you don't mind."

Jason narrowed his eyes and took a step forward, only to be stopped by two Romulan pirates. He stood only a few steps away from Ael'isha, giving her a hard stare, while he clenched his fists at his sides. Even though the pirates held him back, he pushed hard against their grip, he only eased off when he choose to and not because he was threatened or intimidated. He soon developed a smile before replying softly. "Ladies first."

John started to struggle as two of the Romulan pirate goons grabbed him by the arms and started dragging him out of the shuttlebay, but he forced himself to go along for now.

"Just so we are clear." Jason said firmly, looking over to Ael'isha. "If anything happens to my Captain, or this crew, nothing will stop me. No treaty. No boarder. No fleet of ships will keep me from finding you and returning it back to you 10 fold."

Ael'isha regarded the commander for a moment and finally smiled. "Well, then your crew had best behave. I can make no promises, Commander. Now, to the bridge," she said.

"You and your men should keep that same advise in mind." Jason replied in a soft, but stern tone. One of them Romulan officers grabbed his arm, which caused him to react with an elbow into the guys face, prompting the other officer to draw his weapon. Jason narrowed his eyes and stared into the mans eyes before replying. "I know where the bridge is." He looked over to Ael'isha before walking to the shuttlebay doors.
