Mission: Ghost of a Chance

[Engineering]

Several Romulans burst in through the doors. By now most of the Engineering staff had locked down most of the ships primary systems. They had all assembled in the middle of the room and seemed not to care if the Romulans came in, afterall all the consoles were shut down and logged off.

"Who is the chief engineer!" one of the Romulans shouted, obviously frustrated at the shut down state of the Engine Room.

"Why do you want to know?" Wendi asked simply crossing her arms. She might be small and young, but this was now her Engine Room.

"Because I need them" he replied simply. He pulled a pistol from his belt and aimed it at the group of engineers. "Its simple. The Chief better step forward. Reactivate the controls in here, or I start shooting. And if you lie, I'll shoot you all anyways!"

Wendi sighed. "Fair enough" she said. "I'm the ranking officer down here. But I'm not unlocking any of the Engineering systems to you!" she told him, her voice becoming slightly more fierce. She knew that she had a duty to peform and she didn't want to let any Romulan pirate stop her.

"You will unlock the controls" he said simply. He grabbed one of Wendi's engineers, chief petty officer Henderson and held the pistol to her head. "I'll blow her brains out if you don't!" he told her. "And don't think I won't because I will!". His finger now pushing down on the trigger slightly as the plasma pistol began charging.

"You're bluffing!" Wendi said, starting to get a little nervous now.

"No. I'm not!" he said as he pulled the trigger. Henderson dropped to the floor in a pool of her own blood. "You did this Starfleet Brat! Now do I have to kill another?!"

"Ok! OK!" Wendi shouted back. "I'll unlocked the systems. Just leave them alone!"

Another Romulan grabbed her and pulled her over to one of the Consoles. Wendi placed her hand on the console to unlock the system. "Just so you know..." She said. "It really pissed me off that you killed one of my staff, and one of my friends" she said softly as her fingers ran across the console. "Also, you should know something else..."

"Whats that? WHat are you doing?!" the Romulan guard asked.

"Our Captain. He's quite a strong leader. He won't mind if I do this!" she slammed her hand down on the console. Several of the consoles exploded in Engineering showering everyone with sparks. Electical lightning arced between console to console, darting upto the roof and destroying the main lighting. They were then submerged into semi-darkness as the emergency lighting illuminated them all. "Thats for killing my staff!" she said. "Good luck repairing that. I've just fused every system in the room, not even I can repair all that without the use of a Spacedock!"

"You little!" the Romulan said as he smacked her around the head with the end of his rifle knocking her clean out. "Get this one to the brig. We need her later on!"

"Yes sir!" he said as he grabbed Wendi by her blue hair and began to drag her out. "What about the others?"

"They're no use to us. I don't think we have any need for them to remain alive. It'll be a lesson to this one!"

Several shots could be heard from Engineering along with screams, then a deathly silence.

[USS Hyperion, Sickbay]

Miko looked up as the doors to sickbay opened and a pair of Romulans entered her domain. Frowning because she hadn't heard of any visitors, she stood and took a step forward, then paused as she noticed the weapons. "Hey, who in the hell are you guys and what are you doing here?" Miko demanded.

"You're coming with us," one of the Romulans said as he waved his disruptor towards her in a threatening manner. Miko bristled and stood to her full height, which wasn't at all very much compared to the tall Romulan.

"Get the hell out of my sickbay you pointy eared, green blooded, demon faced morons!" Miko snapped.

The Romulans glanced at each other before one shrugged and stepped forward to strike Miko with the stock of his disruptor. The Japanese officer fell, blinking and shaking her head at the force of the blow. The next thing she knew, Miko was being picked up and carried out of sickbay. "Put her in the brig before she causes and trouble," she heard one of her captors saying.

Zhara was aware of the boarding party, and the commotion in sickbay. She walked through the doors and smiled. "May I help you?"

The Romulan leader raised his disruptor rifle and barked an order in Romulan, then remembered and changed to Galactic Standard. "You, Who are you?"

Zhara had understood him the first time, but responded in Federation Standard. "Zhara Rynn. Ship's Counselor and Confidante. I know the crew better than anyone except for the Captain and First Officer." She smiled politely. "I am not a warrior, but I value the lives of the crew." She was either going to be allowed to stay ahd help, or be sent to the brig. She hoped she'd be allowed to stay and learn more of what these Romulans had in mind.

The soldiers glanced each other before the senior ranking one finally shrugged. "Two of you take her to the bridge. The Lady will want to talk to her later," he finally said.

Zhara smiled. "Thank you, gentlemen." That would give her a better ida of what was going on.

[USS Hyperion, Bridge]

The bridge doors opened and Ael'isha couldn't help but stare in wonder for just a moment. She recovered from gawking and motion for her troops to start taking over. As they did so, they started rounding up crew who weren't useful. She turned towards Smoak and raised her eyebrows. "Which officers are required to operate the bridge?" she asked.

'Aren't you a Captain?" Jason replied with a slight smirk. "Shouldn't you know?"

The closest officer quickly slugged him across the face. He didn't stagger and hitting him was like hitting a Klingon, but without the growl. The Officer looked to Ael'isha before looking back to Jason.

Ael'isha raised her hand to stop her guardsman and stood silently as she watched for a long moment. She finally pointed to the woman sitting at operations. "You will remain to man the critical systems until my people learn the controls. Everyone else is to be taken to a holding area," she said.

Jason just stood there with his head down and a smirk on his face, before wiping the blood off his lip and looked up at the Romulan Officer. "You'll be the first one on my list." He said softly before looking over to Ael'isha. "None of them. I'll do everything you need me to do as long as you remove them from the bridge safely."

"You'll don what I say anyway, commander, or I'll execute members of your crew," Ael'isha said as she walked over to the command chair and sat down. Sighing, she leaned back and settled in the seat.

Jason stood there with a firm look on his face before replying “I don’t know how they do things where you learned to Captain, but these men and women have taken an oath to die for each other and the uniforms they wear. So the more people you kill, the more it will cost you when it comes down to getting whatever it is the hell you want.” His gaze and voice remained firm and defiant.

"Lady, the ship reports minor systems failures. Several systems have been compromised. The commander reports that several systems are running a full diagnostic. We will regain control in just over an hour but until then....."

Ael'isha glared at the guardsman who had reported the problem and finally sighed. "Where did the problem originate from? This ship?" she snapped.

"No my Lady. From somewhere inside the asteroid field."

"Check the ship logs and see if there are any ship's missing. Also check the crew roster and begin sweeping patrols of all decks," Ael'isha ordered. Turning towards Smoak she smiled thinly. "If you have something to add now is the time,"'she said

“Why don’t you try asking me a question first, Princess?” Jason replied, returning the thin smile.

[Intelligence]

Jayde sent a second program to Liang through Astrometrics. Then she made it look like the Intelligence department had been dismantled prior to entering Romulan space and all its programs removed. In truth, she had them backed up on separate devices and carefully hidden away where they could not be scanned.

That done, she wiped all evidence of her having been in the department, and then moved down the corridor to do some "maintenance" in one of the Jefferies' tubes. It gave her a chance to cause more trouble nad to keep an eye on the intruders.
