Mission:
Into the Raptor's Shadow
Location: Captain Ready Room
ON
Velah had her uniform pressed and prim; it was early and she had not gone through many rigors in Medical yet when she happened upon the Bridge; she could give at least three good reasons to be here; two of them were actually pretty official and the third was that she just wanted to be on the Bridge to see if itis true that a star ship still runs like shre remembered from her early career?
She stepped over to the Captain's chair and stood to his right; almost at attention with her hands clasped properly in front of her as a lady should. She looked to the Captain and waited for him to notice her.
"Hello Captain, how goes the sailing?" She asked with a genuine Smile. "I thought I would check the crew efficency; from a medical stand point, see if they are fatigued or just normal?" She nod to him. "I usually add this sort of thing to my Crew evaluation reports under the Observation notes." She gave him a sly grin. "Emphasis on the Captain in reagrds to how he is; or is not, pushing himself too much?" She winked.
John raised an eyebrow as he managed to hide a smile. "Have a seat," he said as he waved Velah to sit down in the empty guest chair to the left of his command chair. He was glad she seemed to be interested in doing the little things that most CMOs left up to someone else to take care of. "As far as the sailing goes, we're a few days from Romulus, the crew seems to be alright, and I'm not pushing myself too much. Unlike most captains, I have a wife who isn't afraid to drug and or beat me if she thinks I've been working too much."
"Are you giving her enough time?" Velah asked with a slight grin. "Wives tend to like that, I can tell you from experiance." SHe smiled. "I could mind the store if you like while you get some down time?"
"Well," John said thoughtfully. He honestly didn't have any real reason to be on the bridge other than the fact that there wasn't a senior officer on duty who could take over without drawing someone from their post. "It wouldn't be putting a strain on medical if you stayed up here for a few hours would it?" he asked.
"None at all Captain." Velah said with a soft grin. "Go tell your wife you missed her." She chuckled. "If 'Anything' goes out of the ordinary you and the XO are first people I call." She Offered. "It is fun to do something different and Commanding a ship does rate 'Different' for a Doctor."
"Well, ok then," John said as he stood. "Lieutenant Commander Velah, the bridge is yours," he said formally.
"Thank you Sir, I have the Con." Velah says as she smiles and gives a slight bow.
"Just don't scratch the paint. She's still new and I want to be the first person responsible for the exterior scratches, since science has already beaten everyone to damaging the interior," John added with a small grin before he started off towards the turbolift.
"I will make sure that the Deflector Screens are at Maximum." Velah replies as she is seating herself in the Center Chair. "That should keep the pain job perfect and even save the wax." She was able not to giggle. "Status report please?" She calmly commands as is what she should be doing.
As John headed towards the turbolift, he could hear the helm officer on duty rattle off the latest status report ship wide. As the doors slid shut and cut off the muted noise of the bridge, he smiled as the lift headed towards deck 3.
