ON:
Daniel still had a smile on his face after he arrived back in his quarters--a smile put there by one Lieutenant Elan Val. She was one hell of a woman from what he'd seen so far. Tall, beautiful, and a damned good kisser as well. THAT much he'd found out--several times over. He couldn't say he was in love with her--they'd only just met after all--but he COULD say that he knew he wanted to see where a relationship with her would lead. He had actually told her that he did not believe in one-night stands and that if a relationship developed between them, he would be in it for the long haul. No wham-bam thank-you-ma'am for him. After all, he'd been married to Velah for eleven years, and after their divorce he had not jumped into a relationship since then. Any relationship he got into now he would want to make sure it was with the right person. But it had been three years since their divorce was final and now he felt it was time to get on with his life.
As he sat on his sofa, his mind filled with thoughts of Elan, his reverie was suddenly interrupted by the sound of the door chime. "Enter..." he called out, wondering who could be there at this time of night--and also wondering why they just didn't comm him. When the door opened, it revealed his assistant CEO, Karen Walker, dressed in a tight-fitting button-up obviously custom-made blouse that did absolutely nothing to hide her amazing figure, coupled with what had to be the shortest skirt he had ever seen on a woman along with a pair of four-inch stiletto heels.
When the door had opened, she quickly entered then walked over and plopped herself down on the sofa next to him.
"Hi..." she said brightly.
"Uh...hi?..." he replied. "What are you doing here this time of night and why are you dressed like this?"
"I was on my way to spend the night with a friend," she answered simply.
"So where are you going?" he asked. "Transporting down to Earth?"
"Nope..." she answered quickly. "I'm already there..."
"You're...WHAT??"
"Yeah," she said as she tried to snuggle a bit closer to him. "I mean, I'm single...you're single now..." She let her statement hang in the air for a moment before continuing. "I thought we could get together and have a little fun for the night."
For a moment Divaro was speechless. Then after a minute he slowly shook his head. "Uh...Karen...um...no..." he said slowly. "Just...no..."
"Why not?" she asked. "We're both consenting adults."
"Being adult has nothing to do with it..." he said. "There are a couple of reasons why this won't work. First of all, I'm your boss an that creates a conflict of interest for me. Secondly, I've been seeing Lieutenant Val. Met her in the arboretum tonight as a matter of fact."
"Oh--the science officer..." she said with a note of disdain in her voice. "What's she got that I haven't got? It certainly can't be her figure because I've got a LOT more than she has..." she said, purposely thrusting her ample chest out a bit.
"What does she have that you don't? My interest and affections at this point..." Daniel said. "Sorry if that sounds a bit callous, but that's the way it is."
"Give me a chance and I'll bet I can change your mind..." she said as she began to slowly unbutton her blouse. "I'll give you a night you'll definitely remember."
"Sorry Karen," he said as he grabbed her hand to prevent her from exposing herself further. "I'm not interested."
"Why not?" she asked. "After all, we've known each other for ten years."
"Yes," Daniel agreed. "And we haven't seen each other for nine and a half of those years. We knew each other for six months on the Morningstar when you did your cadet cruise. That was a long time ago. I wasn't interested then--and I'm not interested now. I told Elan tonight that when I'm in a relationship I am completely faithful to that person, and for me that includes dating as well. I don't cheat--period. Elan and I have a date for tomorrow night and I do not intend to jeopardize it just for one night of pleasure that I would regret tomorrow morning anyway. So the best thing you can do is button your blouse and go on back to your quarters. I understand that you have needs, but I will not be the person to fulfill them. Not tonight, and probably not ever."
Walker then stood up from the sofa, but instead of buttoning her blouse back up, she unbuttoned it completely, revealing that she was wearing nothing beneath it. She then turned and flashed him a view of her breasts, then began to re-button once again. "You could have had those and much more..." she said as she finished covering herself. "But you turned me down. So it's your loss..." she tossed over her shoulder as she walked out of his quarters.
