ON

Velah had few oppurtunities to actually be on the OPS center of the station, of course she did not really desire to be at any point. Walking across the Command Center she was aware of the eyes upon her; she had taken oppurtunity to wear the black tights with her uniform today, being as formal as a duty uniform could call she hoped to make the right impression upon the Base Commanding Officer?

SHe marched to the Ready Room; haiving sent word she requested a slot of his time for an urgent matter, and rang the chime.

Captain Sean Harris looked up from his desktop and muttered as he noticed Velah standing outside his office door. Opening the door to let her in, he smiled. "Velah, have a seat and tell me what's bothering you," he said.

"I am sorry Captain for the pushing for an appointment but I have a certain time constraint that I really have to follow." Velah always wore a skirted uniform and her hem two centimeters longer than normal as she stayed within regulation on the side of caution. "I have a rather important request to make of you sir?"

Taking a good look at Velah and what she was wearing, Sean barely stopped before he shook his head. He was going to have to remain seated for this meeting. "So, what's the problem?" he asked.

"I would like reassignment to the USS Hyperion Sir." Velah handed the PADD with the orders over to the captain. "I know it might seem sudden but the Hyperion is scheduled to dock at 171 and I was hoping to get on board at that time if it is possible?" She said with a smile. "I am confidant my subordinate could take my place; I have been preening her to take a Chief position the last couple of years so she can handle it until fleet sends a new one or if you give her a chance I think you will be quite impressed with her Command Style Sir."

Sean paused and blinked at Velah for a long moment before he finally managed to stir. "Ok. That's not what I was expecting," he said. "Velah, are you not happy here on 171? Are you unhappy with the command or anything here?"

"The transfer has nothing to do with my being unhappy with the command Sir." Velah has her legs crossed at the ankle and tucked under the chair with her fingers intertwined as she spoke with what she hoped was a light or at least calm tone. "It ; I mean, my life needs to change a bit and this opportunity came up and I have to take it for all it is worth?" She was not lying; just not putting her Dirty Laundry of an ex-husband getting more rights to their daughter and the paranoid feelings of an Orion Mother coming out,; hell, her own mother had pretty much let her be raised by a slave master of the Syndicate and her own mother had all but been unknown to Velah. She would not do that to Sassi.

"I can understand that," Sean said with a nod. "From what I've heard, the Hyperion is supposed to be a really good assignment right now and Luna class ships are really good ships to serve on, specially as a department head. I'll approve the transfer and if you want, I can contact the CO personally to put in a good word for your transfer."

"That would be great Captain." Velah wanted to sigh in relief. "It would help a lot as I ahve not asked for a transfer in so long I forgot what the steps are." She smiled brightly. "I am sorry about the short notice; it has to do with shared custody of Sassi; her Father wants her around more and I think it would be easier than just having summers and vacations back and forth to be close enough for Sassi to see her father when she wants." Velah wanted to express why she is leaving. "She is at an age where her Father can be of help when she starts noticing boys and he has not had the chance to be around as much. I thought it best to let Sassi see him but be able to come were she is comfortable during teh transition. PLus Star Ship Time does look good on assignment records and I have been from space too long."

"Well, I'll put in a call and talk to the Hyperion's captain later today. I'll also approve the transfer from my end. I hate to see you go, Velah, but change is a part of being in the service. Besides, the Hyperion is a Luna class, and those are always good to have on a resume. Who knows, maybe your next assignment will be at Starfleet Medical," the captain said. "So, go on and get out of here. I'm sure you have a lot of packing to get done."

Velah stood and gave an honest smile. "It has been an honor." SHe told him. "May Fate and Dystiny always leave you out of their squabbles and your journey through life be blessed." She bowed slightly and then took leave.

Sean smiled and watched as Velah left his office. With a heavy sigh, he turned to the desktop monitor as the doors to his office closed. Pressing a control, he cleared his throat. "Get me the Hyperion and tell them I need to speak to the CO," he said. Hopefully, he wasn't about to regret this.
