Élan silently filed out of the shuttle-bay as quickly as she could in an effort to avoid Miko. The Trill knew that the blasted medical officer would most likely hound her for a full physical thanks to that fall that Élan had suffered on the asteroid and she had no intention of going to medical any time soon. Granted, it would become unavoidable before long, but she hoped to drag it out as long as possible. Besides, she had some business to attend to in science. All she had to do was avoid Miko and Daniel Divaro between the shuttle-bay and her domain of the science labs, which wasn't always an easy task. Ducking down the corridor, Élan hurried off to the nearest turbo-lift. She had people to avoid and samples to study.

Tristan left the shuttle, relieved it was all over. He said nothing. He didn't look at anyone. He just took his stuff and left the shuttle bay, in anticipation for consequences.

Liang observed the others depart, then made her own way off the shuttle to go back to security.

Jayde headed straight to security to drop off her cross pack and check in with her assistant before going to the bridge to see the captain.

She walked into the security office nad nodded to the officer at the desk as she passed him to go to her office. But the door did not open as usual. She put her hand on the door plante, but still it didn't open. "Computer, open the door."

"Access denied."

"Computer, command override Delta 22349."

The door opened and Jayde walked in. Then froze when she saw the man sitting behind her desk. For several moments she just stared, speechless. Then she said one word. "You."

Jason looked up from his desk and paused slightly, raising a brow for a moment before looking around on his desk, opening a draw only to close it a second later. "Dammit. Where did I put that knife?"

"Not in my desk you didn't," she retorted.

He opened another draw before holding up his finger and replying. "My desk, actually." Jason said softly before closing the drawer and pointing to a box on the floor. "So that must mean that's your stuff."

"Computer, who is Chief Security Officer aboard the USS Hyperion?"

"Chief Security Officer is Lieutenant Commander Jason Smoak."

Jayde swore. She picked up her box and turned to walk out the door.

"Hey." Jason said as he stood up and held his hands up a bit. "Look, Jayde. There is no reason for us to start off at each others throats. We have bad history, sure, but at least we have history. Which is better than you can say for most people who might have ended up in this spot. So, how about, we start things off peacefully?"

He was right. She didn't like it, but he was right. And he was now a member of the crew. She would be working with him for the next few years. "All right."

"Good." Jason said as he walked around his desk and slowly went over to her. "I'm glad that we can put aside the fact that I put a majority of your old friends in prison. Glad we came to an understanding." He extended his hand to her and smiled. "Put her there?"

She took several moments to find her center and to forcefully calm herself. He did not need to remind her of his betrayal. Imprisoning half the crew she served with was one thing. They were Maquis, he was Starfleet. But to pretend to love her and then betray her? That was another matter. "It is never wise to extend one hand in friendship while the other holds a knife."

Jason looked around with a raised brow before holding out his other hand. "I have no knife. I couldn't find it. I know its here somewhere. I just need to look."

She took the knife off her belt and handed it to him. "Here, use mine. But it won't do you any good."

"Again with the knife. What is your obsession with the knife?" Jason said confused as he took the knife from her. "Was it a sentimental thing? An heirloom? Do you want me to find it? If you give me a minute I can probably find it for you, but its probably in your box since it wasn't mine to begin with. You might want to try looking in there first. I'm just saying, Elf. If it mean's that much to you, I can hunt it down for you."

"You are the one who asked for a knife when I first entered my...your office." She took a deep breath and reminded herself that letting him rattle her would get her nowhere. "I simply used a knife to demonstrate your offering a hand of friendship while you are determined to remind me of your past betrayal. Then again, you speak of a knife. So, I offered you the use of my own. Therefore it is you, not I, who is obsessed with sharp pointy things."

"Glad to see you haven't lost that sharp tongue of yours, Elf." Jason replied with a smile before adding. "Look, no knife. See?" He put the knife down on the desk and turned back to face her with both hands out toward her, showing his palms. "No tricks. No underhandedness or overhandedness of any sort. It's just me and my knifeless hands. I'm sincere about being on the same side. I'm actually relieved we're on the same team and I don't have to lie to you anymore. And I am sure its a kick for you because your the XO and I'm under you." He paused for a moment then smirked. "Not that I ever had a problem with being under you. Or above you. Or even behind-" Jason quickly stopped then chuckled a bit. "Sorry. Couldn't help it."

Jayde moved quickly and quietly. She slapped him with one hand, grabbed her knife with the other, then headed for the door.
