Mission: The Genesis Legacy

John sat in his command chair, impatiently drumming his fingers on the armrest as he waited for the runabout to fly within transporter range. The sensors had detected that the asteroid field had shifted somewhat, forcing Ensign Gallant to make a few alterations to his flight plan, and the Helios was a runabout, not a shuttlecraft. She was still more maneuverable than the Hyperion, he thought darkly. He loved his new command, but there were times where the Luna class design could be a hindrance.

In addition to the fact that John was facing the fact that his senior most engineering officers would most likely have to be transferred to a medical facility, John was also aware that the situation had put Velah in a position over her ex husband that he knew she would absolutely love and enjoy. He would have to be present, otherwise security would have to stand guard in order to prevent the Orion woman from torturing Divaro. He sighed. If anything, the Hyperion had surely earned a reputation.

The unconcious figure of her father filled Sassy with a mix of emotions; she was not all that sure of how she felt about him; she had spent a large portion of her life with her mother and only because her father had demanded to see her and while she was on the ship after moving her life by court order onto a ship that would have kept her from Velah for seven years if he had his way. Sassy's mother had dropped a career as chief of a star base to be with her and despite all the access Sassy's Father had not spent all that much time with her.

The Runabout deposited Velah in the middle of sickbay with her hands clinched but not on her hips. She looked over the figure on the transfer stretcher as she made her way over. The mask of composure was straining to hold back what Sassy knew was her mother's emotional Back wash being held at bay. Velah strode right up to the side of the prone figure.

"Wake up you son of a Targ..." Velah said through clinched teeth. "Just so I slap you senseless." She said as she looked over the vitals.

"Sir, Commander Velah has been beamed to sickbay. The Helios is returning to the asteroid. Miss Dhvael is still on board the Helios with Ensign Gallant."

John nodded and stood. "Lieutenant Csira, you have the bridge," he said before he headed down to sickbay. He made the trip as quickly as he could, but he felt as if it took too long. He walked in to see Velah standing over Divaro with her fists clenched.

Iona nodded, surprised that she was in command, even if it was for a very short time.

"Commander," John said as he headed over.

Zhara heard about the accident with Divaro and headed to sickbay to see if she could be of help to the family. And to make sure Velah didn't do anything foolish.

She walked into sickbay a few moments after the captain.

Velah stood over Daniel with her head shaking. "You are heading to my old Hospital." She gave a grin like a chesire Cat. "You're welcome, I cannot help it that my protoge happens to be running that facility, she knows my and Sassy's side of the story." SHe smiled more brightly. "She has agreed to make sure you get the best recovery. Just your charms will not work there Daniel, have a nice life." She was finalizing the transfer paperwork in what seemed a calm demeanor.

Zhara found Velah's reaction a relief. Hopefully it was a very healthy reaction that would help her finally let go of her anger at her formerh husband.

"I-I he going to be all right?" Sassy asked.

"Sending back to our old home, the staff there will take care of him all right." She winked. "They are his best chance of recovery." Velah assured her daughter. "I am a doctor first and his ex-wife second, I sent him to the best place I could considering our location. That is my job." She told her daughter. "His rehabilitation is totally up to him." SHe chuckled. "HE cannot blame me about how it goes, I am done with it."

John shook his head. He had heard about the evils that an ex wife could visit upon their ex husbands, and he found himself, once again, hoping that nothing happened to cause a divorce between him and Mara. "If he has to be transported, he'll have to be moved onto the most recent ship to arrive. I'll have the Kua Moa refueled and Lieutenant Setek will pilot it. He and Lieutenant Walker can be be underway inside of an hour."

Velah turned ever so slowly as her eyes moved to the Captain and she decided to hold off for a micro second; she was level headed and would verify facts as she could not have heard right.

"Did the Son of a Targ request that or the Minx?" She asked very slowly. "I know it was not by chance ; that woman does nothing by chance?"

"That's my decision, on the grounds that both are severely wounded and their recovery will take quite some time. If Lieutenant Walker somehow managed to set it up so that the pod came unlocked from the rollbar just so they could spend up to or over a year in a medical recovery ward, and if you can prove it, I'll order everyone out, the security cameras off, and I'll give you five minutes alone with the both of them. Until then, this was just a bad accident and this is the best course of action for their recovery," John said, taking care with each word.

Velah burst out laughing, a full belly laugh that had her almost doubling over.

John backed away slowly and considered calling for security. It was entirely possible that this Orion woman had just lost her sanity. That, or there was something there that he just didn't catch. He glanced over at Zhara and gave the counselor a worried look.

"She's fine. Laughter is a healthy reaction, under the circumstances."

"It was a bad accident. No one would risk their life just to be with another person. Especially as you are divorced and there is nothing to keep her from Divaro," Zhara said. "So why is this so funny?"

*The two of them finally get one another without any interference from me and it will be thee months of not being able to do anything about it.* Velah thought to Zhara so not to say anything in front of Sassy. * So close to one another... I wonder if his charm will hold up that long?*

"Yes, but then they will have moths of rehabilitation to be together," Zhara replied. "At least they'll either live happily ever after or be at each other's throats. Either way, I think they deserve each other."

*His plan back fired.* Velah smiled. * He thought the Hyperion Mission would have Sassy with him for 7 years...* A certain understanding came to Velah. *Now I am the one who will be with her for than Seven years and he will have to wait.* She turned to look at Daniel and Walker. "May you live in interesting times Daniel." She pressed her thumb to the approval, put in in the slot and took Walker's. "Okay, he is all yours now if you really want him."She tumbled the code to get the transfer.

Zhara shook her head and said nothing.

John raised an eyebrow and shook his head. "I'll have the Koa Manō refueled. I want you and Lieutenant Rynn to oversee the transfer of patients to the runabout. When they'll ready, they'll depart.."

"They cannot be on their way too soon Sir." Velah said honestly. "I have made sure to send word ahead to the facility, I know the CMO there; even taught her a few things before she took over. They will be in good medical hands I can assure you Captain, the best in my opinion." She nod. "A Doctor always wants the best for her patients, personal feelings aside, the transfer is read to proceed. We will give them a good send off."

*With good riddance.* Velah thought aloud.

Zhara very wisely refrained from commenting on Velah's thoughts. "I'll go to the shuttlebay and make sure they are properly secured." She bowed to Velan, the captain, and Sassy, then left sickbay.
