Mission:
Into the Raptor's Shadow
Location: Engineering/Sickbay
Timeline: Current
ON:
As Daniel looked over his messages he saw that one was from sickbay--specifically from his ex-wife, Velah. As he opened and read it, he saw that it was simply a request for him to remind his second-in-command that she was past due for her physical.'This is bound to go over like a cow chip in a punchbowl...' he thought, remembering the incident back on the Morningstar. It had been ten years ago but he would be willing to bet that Velah had not forgiven Karen Walker for her flirtatious ways--especially since she had kissed Daniel while the two of them were working in a Jeffries tube. But rules were rules and Walker was due for her physical, so...
Tapping his combadge he called out =/\= Divaro to Walker, report to my office please. =/\=
=/\= On my way... =/\= she quickly replied.
When she arrived in his office she smiled at Divaro and said "You wanted to see me?" Daniel showed her the message requesting her presence in sickbay right away. "Seems you've been putting off your initial physical..." he said.
She frowned a bit in response. "Yeah I know I've been needing to do that," she said. "But I don't much care for sickbay or doctors so you're right--I HAVE been putting it off." She shook her head slowly. "Guess I can't avoid it any longer."
"Nope," Daniel answered. "So I would suggest you get yourself there before the CMO pulls medical rank on you and has security escort you there."
"I suppose..." Walker said glumly. "I wonder if I'll like the CMO? As I said, I'm not much for doctors."
'I doubt it...' Daniel thought to himself. To her he simply said "Guess you won't know until you get there."
Letting out a sigh of resignation, Walker headed out of the Chief Engineer's office and in the direction of sickbay.
====== 5 minutes later ======
Since the Chief Medical Officer had been the one to send the message, when she arrived at sickbay Walker went directly to the CMO's office. "Lieutenant Karen Walker reporting for my physical as ord..." she broke off as she realized who the CMO was. "Oh, NO...!" She said slowly. "Gods...not...YOU!"
Velah sat back in her chair and poised the stylus between her fingers as she gave the sly grin that only Orion women seem to pull off; a mix between predatory feline and seductive minx, she laughed.
"I see you have not changed." She was really enjoying this. "I can tell you are still the same as always."
"Obviously you haven't changed either," Walker spat back at her, the dislike she had for the Orion woman obvious in her eyes. "Just what the hell are you doing here anyway? Trying to get Daniel back?"
"To allow a Loving Father acess to his beloved daughter." Velah said quite calmly. "And since he did not warn you I was here obviously he is not putting you on his priority list." She raised an eyebrow. "Even when single you cannot get what you want from him." She managed not to snicker. "Not that I care but I know you always had an eye for him but go ahead and chase all you want I am not even holding the door as I have my own life to live aside from Daniel. I let him enjoy having his daughter around is my only real interaction with him." This time she did laugh.
"So you're saying you're not interested in him any more?" Walker asked
Velah laugh loudly and shook her head until she glanced at Walker and realized she was serious. "Raelly... you think I would want back someone I divorced..." SHe got up from her chair. "Daniel is an Emotional Train Wreck waiting to happen to anyone that will think of a long haul." She shook her head. "You can have him for all I care and please occupy him so I do not happen upon him in the corridors if you can handle him that long?"
"Well it probably wouldn't do you any good if you were..." Karen said slowly. "It seems he only has eyes for the Trill science officer. I found that out well enough." Her tone was almost a pout as she muttered "I still can't figure out what she has that I don't."
"The New girl attraction." Velah said. "You are the old model he did not chose in the past like I am the ex-wife." Velah grinned. "Though if you make moves now you might get farther than you think." SHe picked up her tricorder. "SO you ready for the needles and reflex hammer?" She had that cat like expression that hid the truth or lie of her question.
"As for things past--you're right, I always did have an attraction to Daniel. Nothing much ever happened between us on the Morningstar other than a kiss or two but did you ever consider something? Maybe even that wouldn't have happened if he had been satisfied at home." Walker couldn't resist a jab at Velah. "And I suppose I'm as ready as I'll ever be."
""I'll add infelity to his list of reasons to let you have him." Velah shrugged. "That is 'if' you still have what it takes to get him?" Velah moved around her desk. "I don't want him; got past the flash; now do we continue with you trying to save your rejected ego or do you want to pass your medical inspection?" She asked. "Divaro is all yours, I will not even say 'I told you so." Velah gestured to the Medical bay. "Shall we?"
"Let's get this over with..." Walker muttered as she turned and started out into the medical bay. "The sooner we're done, the sooner I can get back to engineering." She then tossed a comment over her shoulder as she walked out of the CMO's office. "And for reference, the kisses were instigated by me but each time he remained faithful to you on all accounts--unfortunately..."
Velah kept walking; her hand was the only sign of her tension, she wanted to slap the woman so hard, her hand had three types of strikes she could do to Walker that would leave a slight mark but she kept her cool. The fact this woman had decided to even try this; that she got the impression he would let her get close enough to even place the Kiss is what hurt. He damn well let her get that close, that was too close if she touched his lips, welcome or not. And who was this trollop to say what was and was not faithful, she was a tramp in Velah's mind and deserved .... she would not go there, Velah was too much a lady to go there.
Visions of all the times men tried to offer to 'play Doctor with the Doctor' and a few bones reset because of a pinch or attempted caress of a bottom because she was Orion. THe tempting men that she could have 'let her hair down with' came flashing across her mind as well as each time she kept it at arm's length minimum. hhad a nature being born of a race bred to seduce and she never touch another man's lips or anything in all that time and she felt her devotion was falling into being stupidity in that instant.
"My head nurse is authorized to complete your physical." Velah said as she took more earnst strides. Hunt... physical on the .... Lieuteant." Velah did not wait for rebuttl;e or comment as she hit the door as a very brisk pace. "Call me if you need me I have an appointment I need to keep." SHe would say no more til well into the corridor and out of ear shot.
The head nurse did not skip any beat as she crossed over to Walker while glancing to see her Chief walk out in what must have been ... whatever Orions do when they are obviously angry?
"Lt. Walker I am Nurse Hunt, I will be performing your evaluation." Hunt motioned to a Biobed with a curtan surrounding it. "This way please."
Walker nodded and followed her to the biobed. Once there, she perched herself on the bed and looked at the nurse. "So what's first?" she asked. "Do I need to take my clothes off?"
"That won't be necessary," the nurse replied. "Just lay down on the biobed. It'll do the rest."
[Corridor outside Medical]
=^=Velah to Zhara.. please tell me you have an immediate opening, I-I need some... help right now. =^= SHe was walking and if Zhara did not have time she would just go to a holodeck and beat some hologram to within an inch of total deresolution."
Zhara cancelled her next appointment. She still had fifteen minutes, so there was time to reschedule. "No, I'm free," she said to Velah. "I'll be waiting in my office." The tone of her friend's voice told her it was something serious.
She immediately prepared a pot of tea, the dartboard, and a punching bag.
"I'll be there in a flash." Velah was not slowing her pace, carpeted corridors be damned as well as that man.
