Jayde walked quietly into sickbay and looked around for someone to assist her. She wanted to get her checkup done quickly so that she could focus her attention on getting her team organized and on meeting the rest of the senior staff.

A nurse approached and Jayde inclined her head. "Hello. I would like to schedule a checkup."

"The Doctor is officially in her office." The Nurse said. "I will go and get her for you." She smiled. "Who can I say is her first patient of the day?"

"Mira Jayde," the security officer replied. She wondered if the doctor was ever unofficially in heroffice.

Velah was in her Office; it would be her private space for the long term foreseeable future, she had to get started upon the making it her own space. Her desk had a real photograph of her and Sassi taken from the camera on a stand that Velah had taken great care to frame the shot. The light seemed to be more of a mystic style; it had taken Velah a long time in the darkroom and over a dozen exposures to get it right.

"Doctor, you have a patent; Mira Jayde." The Nurse informed.

"Be right there." Velah grabbed her tricorder and want out of her office to meet the new patient. Here she was in a new place and the beginning of her clientel one might say? Walking up she had a smile on her face and the expression of someone that was just glad to be of help.

"Hello, I am Doctor Velah. " SHe offered a handshake as humans often did. "How can I be of service?"

Jayde took the proffered hand. "Hello. I am Mira Jayde, the new head of security. I would like to get my physical and then talk to you about how my department could best be of service."

"The physical is an easy bit." Velah said with a smile. "As for how you can support me will be more plans of the Triage conditions during combat that I think would be the first planning. The protection of the patients is always paramount with me. and as I took a hypocratic Oath I tend to do no harm when possible?"

"None of us wish to do harm," Jayde replied. "However, securing a triage station is within my abilities. I will see what we can set up to protect both your medical staff and the wounded."

"I always bow to experts as I understand when a patient bows to my knowledge." Velah said. "If you protect my patients I will be eternally grateful." She said honestly motioning to a bio bed. "If you have a seat I will leave the protection to you as that is your specialty."

Jayde nodded and sat down on the biobed.

Velah glanced up at the displays that were begining to take the scans of the female. "I should thank you for being prompt." Velah said as she took note of the readings. "Usually I have to track down department chiefs." She glanced to the lady. "Is there anything recent that I should know about that is not in the records before I really turn up the juice and get a full scan?"

"Probably," Jayde said quietly. She appeared very serious, but there was a twinkle in her eye. "However, none of that directly affected my physical health."

"Okay, you know the sensors make you glow green if you are lying." Velah said noting the slight bit of relaxing by her patient; they joke then things are okay and she started the scan.

"It is not polite to assume a person is a liar when you've only just met them," Jayde countered. "Besides, I am already green."

"That makes two of us." Velah winked. "SO you are safe in that respect." She glanced at the bio readings and it ran through the Biologicals; heart rate and all seemed healthy enough, the scan would only take a few moments. "Several injuries, healed up but some doctors have no sense of style when they operate on people."

"Some doctors do not have the facilities of a Starship," Jayde countered. "Besides, you expect someone in security to have some odd injuries. Otherwise, you would think they've spent all their time behind a desk."

"Fate worst than death." Velah said as she chuckled and continued the scans. "I spent too much time behind a desk while I was head of Station 171 Medical." SHe smiled. "I hope to get some exercise while on a star ship, stations do not move so I should get treated to some time out from a desk and off the ship if I am lucky.

"You should indeed. It is often wise to have a doctor on an away team," Jayde replied.

"I might be rusty on the procedures but I am told I am a good doctor so I can hope to be of help." She had come to a complete Body Scan. "You have any training you would like personnel to check before going down; your department is tasked with our safety?"

"Liang will be overseeing weapons re-certification," Jayde said. "To make sure everyone knows the procedures and is competent enough for an away team."

"Phasers are not my strongest suit, I might get past any hand to hand but the decontamination procedures I can quote you, being on a station I was involved a lot with quarentine and can pass that test." She admitted. "It is the crickets or type II for the cert?"

"For Starfleet, that is the requirement," Jayde said. "But Liang is also proficient in martial arts and other weapons. She will be teaching classes for those who are interested."

"I dabble in Capoeria." Velah said. "It is more like a really inclusive dancing style." She smiled. "Orions are known for our dancing you know?"

Jayde couldn't help smiling at that. "So I've heard. Vulcans, however, are not."

"I have known one or two that I managed to get a waltz from." Velah smirked mischievously.

Jayde shook her head. "I get the feeling that should not surprise me."

"It was innocent enough." Velah said. "I just hate seeing people left out and alone." She completed the scan. "As for your ability to continue your duties from a strictly Medical point of view ..." She smiled. "You appear srong and Healthy enough for me to trust you with protecting us." Velah transferred the data and baseline to the records. "You are cleared through Medical Lieutenant Jayde." Velah told her. "No insult as I hope not to see you outside social circles, stay safe out there."

Jayde stood and gave Vehal a half-bow. "That is my intention. If there is anything I can do to help you and your department, please let me know."

"I look forward to seeing you outside the Sick Bay." Velah said. "Despite what you might think?"

"What I might think?" Jayde asked.

"That it sounded funny that I would rather meet someone outside the sickbay." Velah said. "I am more happy when I do not have work to do; it means they are healthy?"

"I see nothing unusual with that. You spent one third of your life working in sickbay," Zhara said. "It's perfectly understandable that you would like to have interests outside of work."

"All work and no play makes Velah a dull girl." She chuckled. "Being Orion I am not allowed to be dull." She teased. "You are free to return to duty."

"Thank you," Jayde said. "And I assure you, you are not dull." Jayde, on the other hand, had been accused on multiple occasions of being cold and unfriendly.

"Take care of yourself." Velah waved good bye.

Jayde stood and gave the doctor a Vulcan half-bow. "And you."
