Mission: Pathways
Location: Elan's Quarters
Timeline: Current

ON:

Between the efforts of Engineering and OPS, they had made the deadline for getting science lab 3 back in order - with fifteen minutes to spare. Once all of that was taken care of, Divaro headed for his quarters on a dead run. The reason he was in such a hurry? It was simple--he had a date with an angel named Lieutenant Elan Val and he would be damned if he was late. Once he arrived at his quarters, he showered and changed into casual clothes consisting of a western-style shirt with pearl snaps, a pair of dress bluejeans, cowboy boots, a leather vest and bolo tie, and topped everything off with his Stetson cowboy hat. Next, he went to the replicator and ordered a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolate candy then headed out on his way to Elan's quarters.

As he walked down the corridor, something suddenly dawned on him--he had no idea where her quarters were. So tapping his combadge which he had in his pocket, he asked the computer. "What is the location of Lieutenant Elan Val's quarters?"

“Lieutenant Junior Grade Élan Val’s quarters are located on Deck Seven, cabin Zero-Seven-Two-Zero-Five,” the feminine voice of the Hyperion’s computer replied.

After getting directions to her quarters, he hurried on his way, not wanting to lose a minute of time that he could be spending with her. His plan was to take her to his grandparents' trattoria in Noceto Italy. Finally he reached her door and rang the chime.

Her evening mostly free except her appointed date with a one Lieutenant Commander Divaro, Élan had finally managed to return to her quarters and start unpacking her clothes. Not sure of where they would be going, but quite sure that it would be somewhere on Earth, she had decided against wearing either a uniform or something too casual or formal. She had showered and started pulling on a casual one piece evening dress with sleeves when the door chime rang out.

“Damn, he’s early,” Élan muttered as she tried to pull the hem of her skirt down. It wasn’t cooperating very well, mostly because she hadn’t dried off very well before getting dressed and she wasn’t wearing anything underneath. Rather than keep Daniel waiting at the door, she stepped over towards the door and waved her hand at the door controls.

When the door opened and Daniel saw Elan standing there, his first thought was 'Damn...there's a lot more to her than her uniform showed.' If there had ever been any doubt in his mind that she was female, the evening dress she wore removed all the doubt. Low-cut and form-fitting, it revealed that she was without any doubt all woman.

"Uh...hi..." he said, suddenly feeling more nervous than he had felt in years. "I...ah...I'm sorry if I'm a bit early. I was...uh...not sure how long it would...ah...take me to find your quarters." 'Damn it, Divaro,' he thought, 'calm down. You're babbling worse than a cadet at an admiral's inspection.' He then held out the flowers and the box of candy. "These are for you..."

“Oh! Chocolate!” Élan exclaimed as she caught the whiff of chocolate candies from the box. The flowers she took as well and smelled them, although her nose quickly returned to the box of candy. They smelled divine, but then all chocolate did to a Trill. She finally turned her attention to Daniel and smiled as she noticed that he seemed to be a little nervous. Through her link with Val, she could feel the symbiont’s mischievous side start to emerge.

"Do you like Italian food?" he asked. "If you do I thought I'd take you to my grandparents' restaurant in Italy."

“Oh, so you’re taking me to meet your grandparents? I thought human tradition was for me to meet your parents first,” Élan teased as she set the flowers down on a table and the chocolate on the side table next to the couch. She finished sliding the sleeves on her dress in place and wondered if she was going to have to fight with the hemline all night.

"My grandparents probably won't even be there. They're..." he hesitated as he realized she was teasing him. "Actually meeting the parents IS a human tradition before a marriage but I thought I'd save the proposal for our next date." He grinned hugely to show her he was only giving her a tease as well. "That way we could have the wedding in two weeks and that would give plenty of time for you to meet my parents."

“You really do like to get ahead of yourself and make grand plans, don’t you? I’m afraid that if we’re getting married, you had best have a better proposal than letting your plans slip out while you’re trying to drug me with chocolate and a romantic evening,” Élan said with a playful smile.

"Well that's why I figured for two weeks," he chuckled lightly. "That gives us a week to get to know each other." He could see the laughter dancing in her beautiful brown eyes as their banter continued.

"Seriously though, I thought you might like to see the little town where my father's people came from," he said. "It's right on the Ligurian Sea, about 12 kilometers west of Parma. It's a nice little town with a lot of rom..." he broke off as he realized he'd been about to say 'romantic charm'. He DID want to romance her, but he didn't want to seem too eager for anything, so he watched her for any reaction to his near faux pas.

“La Spezia? You’re taking me to La Spezia?” Élan asked, her eyes gleaming with memories. For a moment, she seemed to be in a trance until the memories from Val faded. Shaking her head a little, Élan smiled towards Daniel.

“Sorry, Val has a few fond memories of west Italy it seems,” she said.

"You know, I do believe that is the name of the place," he said. He hadn't considered that Val would have ever been there. "So when was Val there?"

“A long time ago, she’s not very forthcoming with all of her memories,” Élan said. It was a common thing for symbionts to with hold some memories, especially if they were very private and personal memories that the symbiont wasn’t ready to share or just wanted to protect a previous hosts’ integrity.

"Well if you're ready, shall we go?" he asked, offering her his arm. "Our shuttle awaits."

“How exactly did you manage to get a shuttle for a date night?” Élan asked, knowing that such use of Starfleet equipment was highly frowned upon.

"Being the Chief Engineer does have it's perks," he said with a grin. "I just went to the CO and said "Dad, can I borrow the shuttle tonight?"

“I highly doubt that. Although, I just realized that I know nothing of our commanding officer. I didn’t even know if he was on board or not,” Élan said as she on a pair of stiletto heels that looked good with the dress she had on. It was simple, but classical and sexy at the same time. Even Val approved.

"Actually I just put in a request for one," Daniel said as they started toward the shuttle bay. "Oh, and in case I forgot to tell you, you look beautiful..."
