Mission: An Angel's Sacrifice
Location: Unknown Panetoid

The planet, if it could be called that, and the harsh light of the sun was nearly unbearable to Sevena. She had managed to join the survivors of the Hyperion in their escape, but she knew that it might only be a matter of time before whoever attacked the Hyperion began a search for the ship's survivors. The escape pods and shuttles had managed to locate the barren rock they were now citizens of and landed, or crashed in a controlled manner, and they were all but stranded there. A few shuttles might have a few flights of fuel but not enough to try and go get help. For her part, Sevena felt slightly out of place. Turning to the senior Starfleet officers, she sighed as she opened her uniform tunic and removed it. The heat of the place was annoying. "Commander, I hope you have a plan to rid us of our situation," the Romulan said.

Jayde looked around and nodded. "Yes. We need to find survivors. We also need to find or create shelter. I would prefer a cave system, if we can find one.

The first officer tapped her combadge, trying the obvious first. "Mira to Hyperion crew. If you can hear me, please make your way to my location." She wasn't sure how many--if any-- of the crew would hear her.

She turned to Sevena. "Help me round up people. We need protection from the heat."

Sevena grimaced but nodded. Rounding up stranded Starfleet officers seemed like too much work, but she knew that everyone's survival depended on everyone being together. "We may have to cannibalize the shuttles for shelter if they're no longer any use."

"Start with the escape pods. I want to save the shuttles for last in case we need them."

"No offense commander, but the shuttles are all low on fuel," Sevena said. "I would suggest taking the fuel from all of them and filling one shuttle with all or as much as possible and using it to try to get a message to someone about our situation. The rest would be good for nothing other than shelter or luring enemies into traps."

"I believe the Hyperion sent out a distress call. We can use a shuttle to keep a distress beacon going, but that needs power, not fuel," Jayde said. "What do you suggest we do with the one shuttle?"

"Chief Maribu here" came a call on the comm badges. "Myself and the last engineering team are about ten kilometers from you Commander. However we have..." heavy coughing could be heard with some spluttering "...some injured. Engineering wasn't the most welcoming..." she coughed heavily again "...environment when we left. No doubt I've..." yet more coughing "...inhales too much plasma smoke..."

Jayde turned to Sevena. "Do we have a shuttle that can retrieve them?"

"I'll go check," Sevena replied with a suppressed sigh. Likely, there was a shuttle that could at least make it to the engineer's escape pod, but getting back might prove challenging.

Velah was checking her field supplies despite her headache , popping a couple of aspirin she was continuing to have a field pack ready. "All this putting fuel in a shuttle, why not use it as a taxi or; more important, ambulance service?" She said with some annoyance. "Unlesss you want to lose more crew I suggest we figure some way to get to the wounded and ready them for travel here?"

Sevena shrugged as she returned from where the shuttles were parked. "Commander, there might be one shuttle that can get there, but it's damaged and the pilot isn't sure about getting back," she said.

Jayde sighed. "Can we send out a team to get her then? Or maybe transport her, if we have enough power." They might not be able to fly, but the shuttles still had power. "Do you r best. I'll start organizing those who are here."

Jason removed his tunic as he approached the group. Unlike most of them, he was used to the heat and conditions, so he revealed in it with a smile. He let out a laugh before tossing the tunic over his shoulder. "Oh yeah. This is not how I thought my day would end, but so far, no arguments. All I need is a board and waves before labeling this place a vacation spot." He looked over to Jayde and smiled before nodding towards her. "If I were ever in a place that I could survive in, this would be it, Mira." Hinting his experience and survival training from home would come in handy should they need it.

"Of course you do," Jayde said, smiling at Jason. "Have you seen any place that would suit for a long-term shelter?"

Jason smiled back before looking around to see if he spotted anything. Since nothing stood out to him at that moment, he looking to Jayde, placing his hands on his hips before asking. “Am I allowed to give an educated guess?”

"I don't know," she teased. "Are you?" It was still a little unfamiliar to her as she'd been serious for so many years. But Jason helped her relax a little.

Sevena looked from one Starfleet officer, then to the other, before she finally rolled her eyes towards the skies and shook her head. "I'm stuck on a planet with children," she sighed. "Humans, Starfleet, children," she groaned. "I'm going to die."

Jayde couldn't help smiling. "Well, as long as we work together, you will survive. You might even learn to appreciate hybrids and humans."

By nightfall, all but one of the crew had been accounted for, thanks to the shuttles' sensors. That one was the Captain. Jayde wasn't even sure she got off the ship. But for now, there was no way to be sure. Until then, she was the senior ranking officer.

Several had made lean-to structures to protect from the heat and others were camped round fires for the night. Several more were still hours away and would hopefully arrive on the morrow.

The first officer looked for Jason, wanting to be sure he was safe. Tomorrow she'd organize teams to build shelters and gather food. Tonight, she needed someplace she felt safe, and that was with Jason.

She took one last look around and walked into the darkness.
