Mission: Ghost of a Chance
[CONTINUED]
[OLD]
Jason rolled his eyes slightly. He was well aware there was more than one way, his entire career and skill set proved it, but the reason there were more than just officers on board was all the more reason to put up a fight. If they wanted this ship they wouldn't destroy it, so they weren't in danger of being killed by weapons fire. They would have to board and that's where things would be more in their favor. He understood the Captain's orders, but he didn't like the idea of surrendering.

Jayde nodded at Jason. "Computer, activate Phoenix Delta 0010. Authorization Mira Jayde." She put her hand on the panel in front of her. "Voice, iris and palm recognition."
"Acknowledged. Phoenix Delta 0010 activated," the computer said.
Jason smirked slightly, replying simply with. "That a girl." Before tapping frantically on his console. "Beginning lockout protocol for all armory and weapon lockers. Sending all codes and Intel to secondary back system and establishing layered encryption." He smirked slightly before adding. "I think its time to break out old Kahu Kolohe." (Guardian Rascal)
Jayde raised an eyebrow. That, too, was from their time in the Maquis. Or, rather, her time in the Maquis. "Captain, there is a chance we can piggyback a worm on a comm signal or passive scans. If we can get in, the program will give us access to the computer. We could take down their weapons and shields. However, this process will take a few minutes."
"The Helios." Jason said quickly, looking over to Jayde. He knew what she was thinking and, more importantly, knew she could pull it off. The problem was they might be detected if they did it from their current position, but not if it was from somewhere they weren't expecting. "If we use the shuttle as an extension we can catch them off guard and cut back the time in half.”
"Not in half," Jayde said. "It will still take several minutes to customize the worm and introduce it, but it's a good idea."
"The two problems I see with this is the time you need to utilize the worm program and if you bounce it to the Helios, will it affect the runabout or reveal the away team's location?" John asked as he frowned thoughtfully.
Jayde let out a slow breath. "If we can piggyback it on another signal,it won't affect them or their chance of being detected. I do not know what their sensors are capable of. But if they're focusing on us, there's a better chance that the Helios can send it covertly. I can make it look like a distress call, sir."
John nodded with a little hesitation in the action. "Do it, but use caution," he said.
"Yes, sir. Request permission to go out of uniform," Jayde said. "I might have a better chance as a civilian." She glanced at Jason. "Or if you would prefer I don't, I will come up with something else." She needed to get to Intel and create the program as soon as possible to give it a chance to reach the Helios.
John nodded. "Go," he said, pausing to point towards Sevena. "Take her with you. Install her with the civilians, if nothing else add her to the manifest as a language instructor. Something tells me that our guests won't like her being on board, even less if they find out she's Romulan military."
She was relieved the Captain understood Sevena's precarious position. "Yes, sir."
Jayde smiled at Sevena. "Come on, I think I know just the place for you. How do you feel about plants?'
"As long as they don't try to eat me, I won't complain much," Sevena replied as she fell in behind the first officer.
"They shouldn't go alone." Jason said quickly. "With me, the Commander can do it in half the time, and I have experience in these kinds of infiltration. I can keep them safe and out of harms way."
Jayde heard Jason's request and paused at the door to the turbolift to hear the Captain's reply.
"No," John said as he shook his head. "I need you to pretend to be the first officer when they board. We'll give Commander Jayde as much time as we can in distracting the Romulans." He finished by giving Sevena and Jayde a pointed look before offering them a nod.
Jayde nodded. It was a wise idea, and she knew Jason would be very good in his role as First Officer. "Thank you. I will let you know when the message has been sent."
She gave Jason one final smile and stepped onto the turbolift.
Jason paused slightly and refrained from objecting before turning to face the Captain. "You'll need to adjust the computer's manifest to show as much. It requires your authorization." He paused slightly and raised a brow. "Also, a rank promotion would help sell it. A temporary one, obviously. My opinion. Of course its not completely necessary." He added a bit of a smirk before looking away.
John gave his chief security and tactical officer a hard stare for a moment as he thought over the officer's suggestion before he walked over to a computer terminal set in the bulkhead. Quickly, he adjusted the crew manifest, listing Jayde as a bridge staff officer and Smoak as acting XO before he removed mention of Val and her team as well as the Helios. Finishing up, he entered a command and turned to the replicator beside the terminal. A provisional rank bar with the rank of full commander appeared. Picking it up, he walked over to Smoak. "Alright Commander. Officially, you're acting XO, Commander Jayde is our senior OOD. Also, Make no mention of Val, her team, or the Helios. I also want the secondary weapon lockers sealed and the armory count changed to erase them. Set them up so that they can be opened by shipboard personnel only."
"Fastest tactic for Val and the Helios would be to remove them from the manifest, as well as the channel frequency and logs mentioning them. As for the armory and weapons, that will be much more difficult. Have you run into any ship with no armory or weapons lockers? Even science vessels have them in case of situations like this. We can just, outright, remove the rooms all together. We have to assume, for the moment, they already know about them. All we can do now is double up security codes and remove all but one or two people from accessing them." Jason tapped on his console and began to move quickly. "Lockers and Armory entry are restricted to security officers and command staff. If we remove the security officers restriction and only place you and me, than they would have no choice but to bring on of us there in person. You and I are probably trained to deal with whatever they can dish out." He looked up to the Captain and raised a brow slightly. "If they ever bring you to the Armory, Sir, remember there is a console direction to your left once you walk into the door. Punching in the code: 268429 will engage a force field that will lock out anyone outside the door. The field works off a secondary power source and will continue should they try to bypass it from the outside. It should buy you some time."
"Go ahead and seal the secondary lockers and hide their locations. That will limit the Romulans to trying to access just the main armory. If any security or senior officer can get away, they'll be able to access the secondary lockers. Otherwise, the pirates may not be able to find them," John said. Turning to Csira, he nodded. "Erase all computer data on Val, her team and the Helios. That way they may be able to escape and get help."
