Mission: The Genesis Legacy

ON

Jayde and Liang were the first two to arrive at the shuttle bay. Both had small packs on their shoulders and several items on their belts, including a collapsible staff, a knife, a tricorder, and a phaser. They found the runabout and waited for the others to arrive.

The fit of the uniform was not as good it seemed despite his having the exacting measurements in the computer. The collar was especially scratchy for some reason and felt loose. HE decided that changing his uniform might appease the landing party, he had also gotten his Tricorder and Phaser issued to him as it normal procedure. Walking onto the Shuttle Bay; the fact he could get to fly something other than in slow curving maneuvers did appeal to him, he had even thought of a set of goggles just for the nostalgic effect. He wore a backpack outfitted as be he could for the parameters of the mission.

He tried not to pull at the neck of the standard uniform; he had opted for uniformity being the best case scenario, He wore a standard uniform so to be a part of the team. But why did it feel more like a loose fitting uniform even though it was all but tailored but well pressed.

"Good day all." Gallant III came aboard the Runabout with his usual smile heading for the Pilot's seat. "Welcome aboard Hyperion Space Ways , I hope you enjoy your flight." He placed his pack in a rack before taking the seat.

Both Jayde and Liang bowed in greeting.

Élan arrived at the shuttle-bay a bit later than she had intended, yet in her defense she had had to go all the way from the bridge to her office in order to gather what she would need on the away mission. On her way to the shuttle-bay, she ran into Lieutenant Sato, who was grumbling with one of the kits she was carrying as she walked down the corridor.

“Tell me you’re not carrying two medical kits on a standard away mission, Miko,” Élan said as she caught up to her friend.

“I’m not carrying two medical kits. It’s a basic field kit for away missions, and it’s missing the tricorder because someone keeps stealing it,” Miko complained in her usual, short, snappy manner.

“What about the stethoscope, you’re not bringing it are you?” Élan asked as a horrifying memory crossed her mind.

“Maybe I am, maybe I’m not,” Miko said with a dangerous grin. “Better hope you don’t need me to take any vitals.”

Élan shuddered at the memory and led the way to the shuttle-bay. When they arrived, they boarded the Helios, finding almost everyone else already waiting for them.

Sevena arrived dressed in a typical Romulan away team uniform, the skin tight suit devoid of any rank or unit insignia. She had pulled her hair back in a tight pony tail typical of humans and was more than just a little put out by the fact that she hadn't been allowed to carry her disruptor pistol. That had been taken away and placed under lock and key by the ship's security as soon as she had boarded, which was understandable but didn't make the Romulan watch cat any less upset. Boarding the runabout, she paused, looking around and unsure where she should sit down.

Jayde nodded to the Romulan. "Welcome. Please, have a seat." She looked around. They were still waiting for Tristan and Velah. "As soon as commanders Velah and Balor arrive, we can depart."

Sevena nodded silently and quietly found herself a seat towards the back of the runabout command and control module. Leaning back in her seat, she closed her eyes and waited for the craft to take off.

Velah came onto the ship , she had the larger Medical bag over her shoulder and the usual outrigging of a tricorder on her hip, a small med kit with hypos , her jacket and slacks neatly pressed and a look of her using a little more of a pace than walking.

"Final Medical outfitting the bag." She mused and started across the Runabout tpo stow her kit and take a seat. "I am not that slow when it come to your care I can assure you." She smiled.; it had been years since she had to go on an away team and she realized at the time she had woefully underrated her kit as ready to go. "Please tell me I was 'Tactfully late aqnd not the 'you cost us precious time?"

"No, you did not make us late," Jayde assured the doctor.

Now that everyone was on board, the First Officer turned to Élan. "While I am in charge of the away team, this is your runabout. I will leave its command to you."

“Thank you, Commander,” Élan said with a grateful nod. Setting her gear down, she sat down in the co-pilot’s chair and settled in. She glanced over towards Gallant, but decided to let him take care of pre-flight without bothering him.

"Hello Milady." Gallant III said while glancing over inbetween the pre-flight readiness sequence. "The ship is powering up and will be at your command in just a few seconds." He assured while his fingers looked more like a pianist in a fast paced melody yet his expression was relaxed. "THere we are my little One." The controls gave a series of tones and the board was green for the systems and to the glance was ready to go. "AFter final boarding we are ready to go." He reported

Jayde carefully monitored the asteroid as they approached. The life signs were odd on something that spent thousands of years traveling through space. Or was this some sort of man-made device? There was something niggling at the back of her mind, but she couldn't place it. Not yet, anyway. She let part of her mind ponder the readings while she ran a search of the database. She immediately dismissed all references to Frankenstein's monster as irrelevant.
