=^=Velah to Zhara.. please tell me you have an immediate opening, I-I need some... help right now. =^= SHe was walking and if Zhara did not have time she would just go to a holodeck and beat some hologram to within an inch of total deresolution."
Zhara cancelled her next appointment. She still had fifteen minutes, so there was time to reschedule. "No, I'm free," she said to Velah. "I'll be waiting in my office." The tone of her friend's voice told her it was something serious.
She immediately prepared a pot of tea, the dartboard, and a punching bag.
"I'll be there in a flash." Velah was not slowing her pace, carpeted corridors be damned as well as that man.
[NEW]
Velah was able to go into the office without really ringing the chime; she had not realized that she had done so until she stood near Zhara, her fists clinched so tight Velah would not be surprised if there was bruising and maybe blood?
"That..." There were several words that the Universal Translator did not give a proper definition of the words spoken. "He and this... trollop had kisses or something... he let her try and kiss him." She blurted out.
"Try and kiss, or succeed?" Zhara asked, pouring two cups of a fragrant spice tea. "I assume we're talking about your ex-husband?"
"Yes the lying Rat Fink of a man. The other woman came and boated how they had onlyshare a few kisses ..." Velah fumed. "Then the disclaimer that he was totally faithful... then how the hell did she get close enough; more than once..." SHe clinched fists. "For there to be more attempts..." SHe was pacing slightly. "Orions can do OPen relationships..." SHe glanced up to see what kind of a look her frined might give her. "We are trained to seduce when young, I-I was raised on Earth mostly as teen so I tend to play the Human traditions..." SHe stopped and sighed. "I did not do Orion traditions; I even remained celebate when he was on training and such, and only the letting down of my hair with him..." She looked at the floor.
"I personally prefer monogamy. Much easier to deal with," Zhara said, although she had few opportunities herself for any sort of relationship. The last one had been a half-Andorian who was quite intriguing. Sadly, she'd been transferred before she had a chance to find out if that potential developed into anything. She raised an eyebrow. "Several kisses? One kiss he can say he was caught off guard. Several means he was at least contemplating the possibilities. I do not consider that faithful."
"I-I am just going by what the woman said." The Orion was pacing and trying hard to calm her nerves then stopped. "Y-you have to tell me if you start to get a headache okay?" Velah added as an after thought. "Strong emotions set off my... Heritage and if ..." She seemed embarrassed. "Well if emotions spike sometimes even the Orion doeses I take regularly might not ... contain the higher levels?"
"I am Carpathian, I can handle strong emotions. And I'm a counselor. What is this woman's name?" Zhara asked.
"Lt. Walker, some chick in Engineering that had a history of chasing married and unmarried men from all reputation." Velah added. She Kissed him while we were married; got close enough to kiss him when we were married!" She all but screamed out of frustration. "What else did he do while we were married?"
"If a woman makes a pass at a man once, he can be caught off guard. But if she does it more than once and he doesn't keep her away from him, then he is not being faithful," Zhara said. "How did you find out this woman was on the ship?"
"Came to me for her Yearly Medical Certification." Velah replied. "And I am wondering if he did any more with her that he did not tell me." SHe shook her head. "I am wondering if my affections and trust were wasted."
"Whether or not your love and trust were wasted on your ex-husband isn't as important as the fact that you gave them to him," Zhara said. "And you have a daughter you love. So, in the end, he is the one who lost out because he thought the field was greener somewhere else. That you came out of the marriage with your integrity intact is what matters."
Velah had to stop in her pacing for a second; she thought for a few seconds then chuckled slightly. "That word and Orions are not often used in the same sentence." Velah sigh. "I really do not care who he sleeps with now; and I know I should forget the past stuff as it is not relevant to me anymore, it just hurts and I-I have to look at the man I just found out broke a sacred trust..." She smooth her skirt before taking a seat and tucking her legs under her. "I care that he cheated and the anger at what he did makes me not want to see him anytime soon. I-I never really let anyone get that close to me until Daniel... I gave him - all of what I could. I mean I had to think of creative ways to remain faithful despite my biology and I find out he did not do the same... that hurts."
"It's natural to feel that way -- especially when you put 100% into the relationship. So, how do you like to relieve your frustration?"
"I could break something on him; but that is against my nature despite an ability to do it..." She looked up. "In more than 100 ways that I can think of, but I-I really just am the Hurt style angry rather than the rage. I-I question if I can make a decision for another relationship that is more than dating?" Velah admit. "In the one time I really put myself into it I got burned by this..." She sigh. "There was my Last relationship; Jason, and that was down right getting close to being me bringing him back to meet Sassy." Velah explained. "I-I only said I would do that when it was serious... yet, for Sassy I dropped that relationship and came to this ship and he did-not-take -it-well." She shook the bad memories clear. "I admit it is easier than it should have been if I were as devoted why was it so easy to end it for my daughter? She will be leaving one day and then what? Can I really get past the Orion training and devote myself to someone is not a problem but choose a person as devoted? I have been burned twice for two tries?"
"No. Being in a good relationship can be a beautiful thing," Zhara said. "You'll find someone else when the time is right. Most people go through a number of failed relationships before they find the one that truly clicks. Each is a learning and growing experience. So, instead of getting angry at what happened, remember what you learned and how you grew from the experience. And show Sassy that life is not perfect, but you find the good in every day. Remember, Daniel is Sassy's father. He's not all bad, he was just wrong for you."
"Very obviously." Velah admit. "So from here I just ... what? I can't hide in my room when he drops her off; there are staff meetings that come into play here and I have to be professional with him. What I really want is to knock his block off but that is anger. Can I get a Counselor's note saying interaction with him is bad and can I be excused from dealing with him for a week or so?"
"What you need to ask yourself is, why does it still bother you? Your marriage failed for a number of reasons, this is just one more," Zhara said.
I guess one reason for heartbreak is just as good as the others on the list." Velah was deflated a bit. "Should I hold a grudge as we are going to spend a long time together for Sassy's sake." She sigh. "I still want to ring his neck for it but it is just the man he is and he likely does not even think he is wrong? She admit. "I really am beginning to wonder what I was thinking when I married him?" SHe laughed. "Love can be blind I suppose?"
"No, you should not hold a grudge," Zhara said. "Not for his sake, but for yours and your daughter's. Negative emotions eat away at your soul and you don't want that affecting you or your relationship with your child. Marriage takes work by both parties. Both need to put in 100%. When one of the partners stops working at the relationship, it will fail, no matter how good it was at the beginning. I do not know why yours failed. There are more reasons that we can discuss in one sitting. You need to move on with your life and that means you have to let go of your anger." She couldn't help grinning. "Besides, they say living well is the best revenge. Show that you have done much better on your own."
"Looks like I am about to be open to being in someone's little black book." Velah said. "If I am going to get on his nerves I might as well have fun doing it?"
Zhara shook her head. "Do it for yourself, not to get on his nerves. Just show him that you've truly moved on." She was beginning to repeat herself. "Just be careful. If you poke him too much he may think you're still interested."
"I was hoping the Science Girl would hook him; save the rest of us from his leering." SHe chuckled. "But you are right, just because he was a scum bag Human who was unfaithful in essence, I should not let him get under my skin because now he is able to do that without restraint." She nod to her friend. "Just so you know I have not brought a man home since Daniel left; I-I do not waqnt to give Cassie the Wrong idea"If I ever get really serious then I will let that one meet her." SHe smiled. Until then my quarters are off limits to men. Sassy can bring her father but aside from that it is a man free zone."
"That's wise of you," Zhara said. "To not introduce Sassy to any of your men friends until it's serious. Now, you need to not let your ex-husband get under your skin. Even if he prooves himself to be a scumbag," she added with a grin. "So, shall we have some tea and talk about something pleasant?"
"Please." Velah said. "I am looking forward to getting with some Romulan Merchantile; you know that Romulan silk is said to be among the softest in the universe, I would almost kill for a robe just to wear about my quarters." She smiled. "And their music is more lively than Vulcan but still melodious none the less." Velah was more than happy to discuss things of a lighter nature.
"Well, I hear we'll be having a formal dinner on Romulus before long. You should have an opportunity to buy something then," Zhara said. "If not, there will be other stops along the way. Why not talk about details over tea?"
