Pathways
Location: Divaro's Quarters
Timeline: Current - After One of Our Shuttles Is Missing
ON:
After getting back to his quarters, Daniel's intention had been to watch a holovid, but he found his mind wouldn't let him concentrate on it. He had been out with Elan and they had gone to one of the most romantic places he knew--his father's hometown of Noceto in Italy. They had enjoyed dinner at his grandparents' restaurant and the only thing wrong with their date was that it had been not long enough. He had wanted to take Elan for a walk along the beach just a few blocks from the restaurant but they'd had to get back to the ship.
Once they were back aboard the Hyperion, he had walked her home and gotten a VERY passionate good night kiss, along with a promise of future evenings together. He had thought that nothing could possibly spoil his good mood. That is, until he had come back here and found a message from Captain Theisman saying that he wanted to see him immediately. Divaro had no delusions as to what the meeting was about because he knew it would be about the fact that he had taken a shuttle for his and Elan's trip to Italy without proper authorization. And sure enough, that is exactly what the meeting had been about. The captain was well and truly irritated about it. Irritated? Well, that was actually putting it mildly. Thoroughly pissed off would be a more accurate term. Still, all in all, he hadn't come out of the situation too badly. His shore leave and shuttle privileges were revoked for thirty days and the captain had decided not to enter a formal reprimand into his service jacket, but simply keep it as a verbal reprimand with admonition that if it were to happen again, he would not be so lenient.
"Hmm...a verbal reprimand from the captain and a date with a beautiful woman in one evening..." he said slowly, thinking aloud. "At least you're batting 500 Divaro." After the captain's punishment was handed down Daniel later realized that it was, in essence, meaningless. His shore leave cancelled for 30 days when they wouldn't even be at Starbase 171 for 49 days? Unless the captain meant for his punishment to start the first time they were someplace where shore leave COULD be had. Oh well--in any case his future dates with Elan would most likely be on one of the holodecks.
And as his thoughts drifted back to Elan, he realized that there was a subject he had not discussed with her--and he knew it was something that needed to be if they were to have any sort of relationship. Sassi and Velah. His and Velah's relationship was over--had been for several years now. But in the interests of openness and honesty he knew he had to tell Elan since they would be coming aboard once the Hyperion reached 171. He knew it was too late tonight to disturb her but he needed to tell her about them soon--perhaps as soon as tomorrow.
But for now, he simply sat back, closed his eyes, and thought about the evening he had spent with her. He could still see her in his mind. That stunning black dress...her well-developed figure...and those gorgeous brown eyes...
