Mission: Ghost of a Chance: Epilogue
Location: Security Office/Holodeck
Timeline: Sometime After: Sudden Adjustments

ON:

Bodrin walked into the Security Offices and took his seat at his desk. He picked up his PADD and leaned back in his chair, hoping something exciting would happen, or at least it wouldn't be so slow of a day. He let out a deep sigh as he tapped on the PADD, bringing up files and dossier's, before turning it off and placing it back down. He forgot how, sometimes, ship work was a bit slow and uneventful before looking over to Smoak's Office. It was dark and empty. Not empty in the sense that it was without furniture, but it was without a Chief of Security and Tactical. He raised a brow and soon stood up.

He made his way to the office and stopped at the door before looking over to his large Caitian friend. "Hey Kroaw? Where's Smoak?"

The Caitian just looked at him intently before shrugging and walking away.

"You're a lot of help." Bodrin whispered before tapping his combadge. "Computer: Locate Lieutenant Commander Smoak please."

"Lieutenant Commander Smoak is on deck 6 in Holodeck 2." The computer responded.

Bodrin rolled his eyes before letting out sigh. "Kroaw? You're in charge while I am gone. No parties and don't blow anything up while I am gone." He said quickly as he tapped his friend in the shoulder before walking out and heading to the nearest turbolift.

Once he got to deck 6, he found his way to the holodeck and tapped on the side panel. He brought up the program name and recognized it right away. He hoped Jason hadn't taken his name off the list of people who were allowed access to it while it was running. "Computer: This is Bodrin Fyre. Open the door to the holodeck."

"A known passcode is required to gain access."

Bodrin crossed his arms over his chest and looked around before leaning forward and whispering, "Spoon head."

"Please repeat at a high enough volume." The computer replied.

He rolled his eyes and quickly shouted. "I said Spoon Head you stupid voice box!" He turned his head and narrowed his eyes at an officer who just walked around the corner and paused. "Can I help you? No? Then mind your business." Bodrin said quickly as the doors opened. He walked in, not giving the Officer a moment to respond, before the doors shut behind him.

He walks into a familiar scene of sand and shore. The sun was rising in the distance and sky was clear. It was hard to distinguish this from the real thing if one had seen the real beach that this program was based on. The only thing missing were the other surfers competing for the next wave. Brodin shook his head and smiled a bit before walking to a towel set up not that far from water.

Brodin resisted the urge to remove his footwear before sitting down on the towel and looking towards the water. He observed the figure in the distance straddling his board before laying down on his stomach, beginning to paddle with his arms. Once he had caught enough of the wave, he hopped to his feet and took his stance, extending his arms.

"Your foot is off." Brodin said softly before shaking his head. "You're going to-" Before he could finish his sentence, he saw the figure get overtaken by the wave and become engulfed by the water. "Told you." He said just before laughing.

The figure emerged from the water and seemed to scream something before getting back on his board and paddling back to the beach. Eventually, he would get to the sand and pick up the surfboard, tucking it under his arm before walking to the towel. As he approached the towel, soaked and frustrated, he already knew what he was going to hear.

"Your footing was trash." Brodin said softly, his eyes focused on the water. "You're not focusing on the ride, brother. Your brain is somewhere it shouldn't be."

"You're going to give me tips on surfing?" Jason said as he grabbed a separate towel to wipe his face and head before placing it around his neck. "You who has only surfed a total of what? Three times?"

Brodin laughed before nodding his head. "Don't think we should count that last one. I was S.W.I. Surfing while Intoxicated."

"Ahh... yes." Jason replied softly before adding. "In our house that was a punishable offense. The punishment was Death by Auntie Moa's Meatloaf."

Brodin shrugged his shoulders as closed his eyes. He let out an almost sickened gag before saying. "Auntie Moa's Meatloaf. I still haven't fully digested my first bit from 2 years ago. She was a nice lady but-"

"She should never cook." Jason replied, staring off into the water before smiling. "Baking is something entirely different."

"I miss her Snooker-doodles." Brodin said softly.

"Me too." Jason agreed before tossing a towel over his shoulder. "So... I take it you aren't here to discuss Auntie and her baking?"

"I wanted to talk to you about..." He looked at Jason before clearing his throat and adding quickly. "Surfing."

Jason rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Again... you are going to-"

"Just hear me out, Brother. It's something you need to hear." Brodin said sternly, looking over to Jason, before looking away.

Jason looked at her oddly before nodding his head. "Go ahead. You have the floor... or... sand in this case."

Brodin took a moment, placing his hand on the sand, before looking over to Jason and beginning. "You know how, in surfing, some catch that certain wave. That perfect wave. That wave that is just right and you ride so smoothly and so peacefully that you can't help but feel... feel like the world disappears. It disappears and it’s just you and that perfect wave." He away, toward the water, and continued. "But then, its gone, and pick up your board and walk off, feeling complete, but not really."

The Platonian chuckled softly, resisting the urge to but in, however allowing his close friend to continue uninterrupted.

To Be Continued...
