Ghost of a Chance

"YarÅ!" Miko snarled as she spied the bleeding disruptor wound on her patient. Dropping the hypo-spray, she fumbled just slightly but managed to grab the side arm of the Romulan she had dosed with heavy duty tranquilizers. Aiming, she pressed her finger on the firing button and fired. As the three Romulans returned fire, the Japanese officer ducked, practically falling to the deck as she did so. Her free hand landed on something and she glanced down quickly to see the Romulan equivalent of a thermal concussion grenade. Muttering 'What the hell' under her breath, Miko grabbed it, thumbed the activation button and threw it towards the three Romulan pirates before she dove towards Maberu. Throwing herself over the wounded engineer, Miko closed her eyes and covered her ears as the powerful explosive bounced along the deck towards the trio of Romulans, rolling to a stop in front of them before exploding. A loud, short lived force of pressure and fire filled the entryway of the brig area. When the air cleared, Miko lifted her head and groaned as she stumbled to her feet. The Romulans were no longer a threat, but she figured that they would be the least of their problems fairly soon. Stumbling over to the other brig cells, Miko tapped the controls and lowered the force-field.

John couldn't help but blink as his brain continued to register what had just happened. He had seen medical officers do some crazy things, but he had to admit that this definitely took the trophy for most outrageous bat sh*t crazy thing he had ever seen. As the force field lowered, he grabbed the Romulan disruptor from the medical officer and raised his eyebrows. He had heard some of the stories about the bitch queen in sickbay, but this was the first time he had really met her, and now he was sure that he never wanted to piss her off. "Alright, not how I had planned to do this, but we don't have a lot of time. Grab Wendi and let's get out of here," he said.
"I need to get her to sickbay," Miko said as she hurried back to the cell where the wounded engineer was. Kneeling, she took Maberu's vitals quickly and silently swore before she started collecting the items she had scattered from the medical kit. Slinging the strap to the kit over one shoulder, Miko clenched her teeth as she pulled the engineer over one shoulder and stood up, hoping that Maberu wasn't in any form aware of what was going on around her at the moment. Turning towards the captain, the Japanese medical officer raised her eyebrows. "Sickbay. Now," she said.
John sighed as he quickly thought over their options. The chief engineer needed to be in a medical facility, but sickbay just wasn't secure enough. It would most likely take time for the treatment operation and he didn't want to end up getting placed back in the brig. "I have an idea," he said. "We can keep her stabilized long enough to get her to the Selene. There's a full med suite onboard, not as elaborate as sickbay but the yacht is more secure than sickbay and they can't access it."
Miko thought over the suggestion for a long moment, knowing that they really didn't have a whole lot of time. The brig was one deck below where sickbay was, while the Selene, which she recalled being the captain's yacht, was further away. As light as the chief engineer was, Miko wasn't exactly built for carrying someone for an extended period of time either. "I can't carry her that far by myself," she finally said.
"Well, fortunately, we have someone here to help," John said as he walked over to the brig cell occupied by Sevena. "How about it, ready to play nice and help out?"
"No, I really want to stay here and see what devious tortures they have in mind for me. Of course I want out!" the Romulan officer snapped.
John lowered the force field and handed her the Romulan disruptor. "Good, you have guard duty. Take point and let's go," he said.
Sevena glared at him for a moment before she stalked over to the door leading out of the brig and opened it. Peering through, she nodded and motioned for the others to hurry. John grabbed one of Maberu's arms and hurried towards the door. Sato would just have to keep up because they had to move fast.
Miko struggled just a little with the combination of carrying the medical kit, helping the injured engineer and trying to keep pace with the captain. There were times she hated being so short. "So, how are we going to get down to the Selene?" she managed to ask.
"We'll have to use the Jefferies tubes to get down there, but if we use the primary routes it should be easy enough to get down there," John said. He was about to say more when the whine of a transporter beam alerted him along with the sound of a high powered security field being activated. Turning, John noticed several Romulans being beamed into the brig cells that were being activated. Before he could wonder more, his comm badge beeped.
"Mira to Theismann."
"Theisman here, go ahead," John said, silently thankful that his XO had managed to pull something off.
