Mission: The Genesis Legacy
The humming transporter beam materialized Sevena in the middle of a transporter pad in the Hyperion's transporter room and left the Romulan officer standing there faced off against a grizzly old Senior Chief Petty Officer who simply stared back at the Romulan she wolf who had just arrived on his ship first thing in the morning. Taking a step down from the transporter pad, Sevena shifted the large travel bag on her shoulder before she spoke. "I'm Sevena t'Dhvael. Please inform one of your command officers that I have arrived. I require quarters for myself," she said.
"I'll inform the first officer. You wait right there," the grouchy NCO gruffed. Tapping his commbadge, he hailed Commander Jayde. "Commander Jayde, you're needed in transporter room two. A security escort might be needed," he said.
"On my way," Jayde said. She'd been expecting their guest. She wished the ship had been informed in advance, but it appeared the Romulan woman preferred to arrive unexpectedly. Probably to throw them off guard. She selected three security officers and quickly made her way to the transporter room.
When she walked in, she stopped and bowed to the Romulan. "Greetings. I am Commander Mira Jayde. Welcome aboard the USS Hyperion."
"I would thank you for your welcome, Commander, except that I didn't expect Starfleet hospitality to include so many armed guards," Sevena said with a raised eyebrow. "I take it my usual quarters will be uncomfortably located in the ships brig?"
"Not at all. You are our guest. The guards are merely a formality," Jayde assured her. "We have prepared VIP quarters for your stay. I hope they are to your satisfaction."
"Oh, I'm being given the famous Starfleet hospitality that I've heard so much about?" Sevena said with what could only be described as that traditional evil Romulan smile. "I must admit that I've been curious as to why I've heard so much about Starfleet living quarters. And the food, I've been told that even your replicators are exceptional."
A half-smile appeared for a moment on Jayde's face. "That depends on who you talk to. Some find it inadequate. However, it does meet all nutritional needs. If you will come this way, we will take you to your quarters so that you can settle in."
Jayde indicated that the guards should lead the way while she walked with their guest. "Do you have any specific requirements?"
Sevena shifted her bag as she walked along the Starfleet officer. She couldn't help but admire the interior design of the ship. Romulan ships were more spartan and practical rather than comfortable and nice. Perhaps she would enjoy this assignment more than she had realized. "Privacy and the ability to do my job unhindered," she answered simply. "I must admit, I like to keep to myself a lot. It's probably one of the reasons I was given this assignment in the first place."
"Yes, there is room for privacy here," Jayde said. It was something she herself appreciated. "As you get familiar with the ship, you can ask the computer how to get somewhere. A light will appear on the wall and lead you where you need to go. It is much easier than asking the crew directions."
Jayde stopped before the VIP quarters and tapped in a code. "If you will place your hand on the door panel, it will identify you as the occupant and open to your command."
Sevena did as she was instructed and placed her hand on the panel. After a second, it beeped and the door slid open. Heading inside, the Romulan officer paused as she took in her quarters. The VIP quarters were similar to to the command quarters, with only a few minor differences, but they were among the nicest staterooms in use on board Starfleet ships. "Impressive," Sevena said.
Jayde gave her a half-bow. "I am glad they meet with your approval. Is there anything else you require at this time?"
"Not at this time. Although, I understand that this ship has holodecks on board. Are there any formalities on using one?" Sevena asked as she set her bags down.
"You need to schedule the time," Jayde said. "And follow the protocols. Other than that, no. The computer can assist you, if you need help."
"I see," Sevena said thoughtfully. After a moment, she nodded. "I believe that will be all for now, Commander. I assume that I'm allowed to roam throughout the ship without an escort?"
"Yes, for the most part. There will be sections of the ship where you will not be allowed entry for security reasons, but for the most part you are welcome to explore," Jayde said. "The Captain would like you to join him for dinner at 2000 hours tonight."
"I understand," Sevena said with a nod. Being a member of the Romulan military, she understood security reasons all too well. Naturally, curiosity would eventually get the better of her and draw her to some of those sections of the ship, but that would be for another time. At the mention of having dinner with the captain, she frowned. "Who will all be in attendance and what should I be expected to wear?" she asked.
"I do not know who will be in attendance, but your uniform will be sufficient," Jayde assured her.
"Very well. I won't keep you from your other duties then, Commander. I'm quite sure that you and I will become very familiar with each other before long," Sevena said with one of those infamous Romulan style smiles.
Jayde bowed. "Indeed."
